      The purpose of this study is to suggest a concrete improvement measure by observation on the details of the vocational education in need for a social life, and inspection for the problem regarding vocational education management in the scene of special classes in middle schools.
      The qualifications for the teachers in charge of vocation for special classes in middle schools are demanded both certificates of a special teacher and a technical teacher, and qualified vocational teachers for special schools and teachers received training for vocational education with qualification for special teachers need to take charge of the classes. The most important required abilities for vocational teachers are those of rehabilitation education field including development, analysis and arrangement of occupations.
      The curriculum and details show that the education made much of attitude for vocational life, independence and vocational ability and the program of vocational education is carried out with the purpose of adapting to and participation in a society. The selection of the type of occupation is properly arranged considering individual intelligence level and vocational abilities by school policy and teachers'decision.
      Vocational education is carried out with work learning and work training but educational-industrial cooperation system is hardly realized in short of training places and students' abilities. Occupation recommendation for graduates-to-be who completed the course of vocational education is done with cooperation of parents and teachers or little with work training.
      The matters at issure on the vodational education in middle schools are those of adaptation to the actual vocational scene such as lack of understanding, human relationship and patience and for emplyment, it demands consideration of physical-social unification, development of supporting strategy and establishment of institutions. Improvement measures are preparation of occupation for the handicapped and quota emplyment system, and the pressing problems to be settled are development of vocational education curriculum and finding and arrangement of qualified teachers for vocational education.
      The purpose of vocational education for special classes in middle scholls is to help retarded students with performing their duties and responsibilities as members of a society after graduation and with self-realization. Therefore, the significance of this study lies in suggesting the direction for vocational education so that retarded students can overcome their handicap, contribute for the improvement of a society as members of it and have hope for occupations and the meaning of life in hope of helping for the work.
