The purpose of this study was to investigate job stress and burnout cause-factors of special education teachers and to explain correlation of cause-factors between job stress and burnout. For this purpose the survey was implemented with 200 teachers randomly selected from special education schools. The subject was categorized and researched by five variables including gender, experience, type of disabilities, class, and type of teacher certification.
The survey questionnaire consists of 23 questions selected from Kang Hak-gu(1996)'s thesis and MBI(Maslach Burnout Inventory) published from Maslash and Jackson (1981). The collected data measured with Likert-5 point-scale were analyzed with t and F-test, and the coefficients of correlation of each item about job stress and burnout cause-factors were calculated.
The major conclusions of this study were as follows;
First, The job stress of teachers who work at the special school was shown that it was endurable. It was influenced by class instruction and routine work. And it depended on special education teaching experience and the nature of the handicapped.
Second, The burnout teachers of who work at the special school was relatively high. It was shown that the female teachers experienced it more than the male teachers burnout in loss of personal accomplishment.
Third, The correlation between job stress and burnout of teachers who work at the special school teachers has shown that the relationship of superior officials related with depersonalization, especially it was the highest.
The following suggestions were derived from results of this study:
First, We need to study about job stress and burnout when teachers of who work at special school are more experienced it during a term.
Second, It's desirable to reduce teachers job and develop of executive teaching programs for teachers of who work at special school.
The last, It is desirable to discover the program to solve job stress and burnout. It's required to improve of economic and social status and working condition for teachers of who work at special school.
