    Abstract
    Design and Implementation of Web-Based Mathematics Puzzle Program for promoting Interest in Highschool Mathematics

    The 7th curriculum in mathematics aims at cultivating mathematical power. So teachers are making constant efforts to help students' mathematical understanding. But in spite of it, students still think that mathematics is difficult and then they lose interest in it and even avoid it. But they take a greater interest in amusement TV program or puzzle than a question in the textbook and sometimes they are greatly immersed in the internet game done without regard to time and space. So there's a growing need for developing web-based mathematics puzzle program to solve the puzzle in relation to mathematics through internet.
    Therefore, in order to stimulate interest in mathematics systematically and to have attitude to think of and bring to conclusion mathematically, web-based mathematical puzzle program is developed for motivation about highschool mathematics.
    The development of puzzle program in this research centers on leading the students to arouse interest in mathematics, and then making them have attitude with which they can think of and bring to conclusion mathematically. And also stage-levelled puzzle questions are developed to be selected according to the level of their accomplishment. Furthermore mathematical puzzle enables students to take interest in mathematics subject and make them have attitude to think of mathematically. And also they can solve the question in the textbook using mathematical knowledge gained naturally while they are solving the mathematical puzzle. And by putting the explanation in the internet homepage, they can brag of their competence and gain confidence in themselves.
    To inspect the effect of this program reliably, Aiken's interest and attitude test about mathematics was carried out both before and after.
    The result is as following;
    First, it obtained the desired results to take interest mathematics and to have attitude to think of mathematically and deal with in that way.
    Second, the mathematical puzzle according to stage-levelled mathematical program enabled students to have initiative thinking ability.
    Third, by solving the puzzle in relation to mathematics and then by gaining mathematical knowledge naturally, that knowledge helped them solve the problem in the textbook.
    Finally, this research is limited to mathematical puzzle operated in stage-levelled curriculum in subject and this research is also limited to development of web-based puzzle program related to number among the many mathematical puzzles.
    Therefore this study proposes as followings;
    First, a various puzzle question related to mathematics needs to be developed.
    Second, acquirement of technique to attract student's attention and interest is needed.
    Third, there is a need to develop DB program for student's systematical management.
