포트폴리오 평가의 유아교육현장 적용의 효과를 관찰하기 위해 유아와 교사의 상호작용을 위한 척도로 Abbott-Shim과 Sibley(1987)가 제작한 APECP(Assesment Profile for Early Childhood Programs)를 사용하였으며, 유아와 교사관계를 측정하기 위해 Pianta(1988)가 제작한 STRS(Student Teacher Relationship Scale)를 사용하였고, 유아의 적응을 측정하기 위해 Jewsuwan, Luster와 Kostelink(1993)의 PAQ(Preschool Adjustment Questionnaire)를 사용하였다. 부모의 자녀평가를 측정하기 위해 Meisels와 Wiske(1983)의 ESPQ(Early Screening Parent Questionnaire)를 사용하였다.

This study examined the effect of portfolios on early childhood programs by using portfolio assessment to young children, teacher and parent. Fifty 3- and 4-year-old children, four teachers and their parents were participated in the study. The two of the four teachers, head teacher and assistant teacher, had 25 children and were assigned as an experimental group. The rest of the teachers, head teacher and assistant teacher had 25 children and were assigned as a control group.
The children were assigned into two groups, such as an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was designed to the intervention of portfolio assessment on the preschool classroom, whereas the control group was evaluated by the traditional measurement. This study followed a constant comparative method of analyzing data. The primary form of data reporting was a descriptive format.
There were several measurements to examine the effect of the portfolio assessment on the two early childhood programs: (a) Assessment portfolio for early childhood program used for an interaction between children and teacher, (b) Student teacher relationship for the relationship between teacher and children, (c) Preschool adjustment Questionnaire for the children's adjustment in the preschool program, and (d) Early screening questionnaire for children's development rated by their parents.
Results showed that the children of the experimental group were more likely to adapt the adjustment in the preschool program. Also, the teacher of the experimental group were more likely to increase intervention during interacting with their children by analyzing video observations. The results revealed that the relationship between teacher and children was changed into positively and affirmatively. It is interpreted that the portfolio assessment influenced on the relationship between them. Finally, parents assured the evaluations of their children's development through participating the portfolio assessment.
These findings will lead to recommendations to improve assessment and intervention with young children. Also, portfolios are a tool teachers have available to them to directly and actively involve young childrens in their own learning. The real value of portfolios as assessment instruments is demonstrated as young children's reflect upon and analyze personal progress and developement over time.
