The purpose of studying and analyzing elementary school teachers' understanding of classroom management is to improve the quality of elementary school education because elementary school teachers have a great influence on building school children's characters. All data were collected from a sample of elementary school teachers who work at schools in Kyungsangbuk-do, considering sex, careers, academic backgrounds and regions. A survey form consists of 20 questions in 3 sections - views of classroom management, teaching class and guiding student's school life. Collected data were processed with SPSS/PC and F-test was conducted with the group significance of p<.01and p<.05 respectively.
The result of this research through the process mentioned before, is shown below.
    1. Teachers' understanding of classroom management has statistically significant difference according to the difference in teachers' careers and academic backgrounds. Elementary school teachers' careers and academic backgrounds greatly influence the classroom management because the classroom management needs a lot of educational experience and expert knowledge.
    2. There is no difference in the understanding of classroom management according to the distinction of sex and the difference in the region. Considering there is no relationship between the competence as a teacher and region or sex, anyone can be a great teacher regardless of sex and elementary school teachers do their duties according to their convictions in any regional environment.
    3. A lot of educational experience and professional training are required of the teachers for effective classroom management. For the views of classroom management, the level of understanding and the confidence of the teachers who have a lot of educational experience and backgrounds, were relatively higher. This shows that training systems which any teacher can join, need to be developed to give some sort of educational experience and training to the elementary school teachers.
    4. A classroom management is needed for the balance of strict discipline and independent work in the classes. In case of views of classroom management, many teachers, especially teachers who have a lot of experience, agreed on the needs of strict discipline and independent work. This shows the importance of the independence and the order.
    5. It is needed to study for the system that every subjects in elementary schools should be exclusively charged of by different teachers. Most of the teachers in the survey were positive about this kind of system and especially both sexes of teachers all admitted the necessity of that system. This shows that the national study on this system is inevitable for the effective classroom management.
    6. Not only teachers but also schoolchildren and parents of the students should be in search of better solutions for physical punishment. Both sexes of teachers agreed on the need of physical punishment to guide students. This shows that strict discipline is needed in proportion to the understanding level of needs of students' independence.
    7. Continuous concerns, studies and training on teachers' guiding students, are required. The response for the case studies of guiding students was medium level, especially teachers who were less experienced responded negatively. This shows that continuous studies and training on teacher's guiding student's school life, are needed.
