This purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between preschoolers' creativity and self-concept. The questions of this study were as follows:
1. Is there difference in children's self-concept according to gender?
2. Is there difference in children's creativity according to gender?
3. Is there correlation between children's creativity and self-concept?
4. Is there correlation between children's creativity and self-conception according to gender?
The subjects of this study were 123 five-year old children in three kindergartens and two nursery schools located in Kangnam-gu, Junglang-gu in Seoul, and Bundang-gu in Kyunggi-do. The test instruments were'The Pictorial Scale of Perceived Competence and Social Acceptance for Young Children' by Harter & Pike(1984) and 'Instrument for Assessing Creativity' by Wallach & Kogan(1965).
The result of this study were as follows:
First, there was significant difference in self-concept between boys and girls, especially in self-concept about cognition.
Second, there was significant difference in creativity between boys and girls, especially in originality.
Third, there was significant correlation between preschoolers' self-concept and creativity.
Fourth, there was a gender difference in the relationship between preschoolers' self-concept and creativity.
