This study was designed to investigate the effect of Nutritional Knowledge, Dietary Attitude and Dietary Self-Efficacy on the Nutritional Status of Middle School Students in Kyoungsangnam-do. The subjects 248 boys and 281 girls in Kyoungsangnam-do provice.
1. The average height and weight of participating boy students is 157.8cm, 48.40 respectively. The Average of girl students is 157.06cm height , 47.92Kg.
4. In a comparisons with the actual obesity degree and self-percept obesity degree, more than 50% of boy students out of deficient weight group consider them fat. In case of girl students, the result is more serious showing that 15.8% deficient weight group, 64% regular weight group and 100% obesity group including excess weight group think they are fat. The girl students show higher percentage of wrong understanding to their weight than body students.
2. Obesity students want lean boys while normal ones want to gain the weight. However, the girl students desire the lean body. Most of the weight group, both boy and girl students do the excercise once per week or 2 or 3 times per month. However 1.5 % boy students and 27% girl students never excercise. the most eager exercisers are the member of girl obesity group as 22.2%.
Girl students try to reduce the weight for better appearance more than boy students. ( P,0.001)
3. Analysing the interest in reducing the weight show that 47.2 % boy students and 65.5% girl students are highly interested while 37.5% boy students and 12.5% girl students are not interested at all.
4. The analyzing the scores of dietary behaviors by the distinction of sex, boy students get the 40.11. score are 39.39, both are in the normal group.
5. Regarding the nutritive Knowledge, most of students, 80.6% boys and 90.7% girls, are in the good group, which show the difference in the distinction of sex. Which 59.7% boys are 56.1% girls are in good dietary behaviors, no remarkable difference between boys are girls. However 80.8% girls are in the good group, showing must higher percentage than boys, 66.9% in terms of the question of self-dietary.
6. As the scores of dietary knowledge are higher, the scores of self-dietary efficacy are higher, which show the remarkable difference. However the higher dietary behaviors score is, the higher self-dietary efficacy score is higher. But no remarkable difference as much as the relation between of dietary knowledge and self-dietary efficacy. As the scores of dietary behaviors are higher, the scores of dietary knowledge are higher, which show no remarkable difference. At last, the scores of self-dietary efficacy is higher, the score dietary behaviors score is getting higher.
Conclusionally, adolescent who try to reduce their weight have bad dietary behaviors and poor health conditions, bearing the high possibility of abnormal dietary behaviors. So, the systemic dietary education is required to lead them to have the healthy dietary behaviors.
It is absolutely considered to allocate professional experts who can give the students specialized advice on the nutritional condition and appropriate way to reduce the boys weight under the current situation where Self- decision making is applied when the students are in reducing the weight rather than taking the counsel of experts.
