총체적 언어교육 접근이 유아의 언어 표현력 및 창의성에 미치는 효과 = (The) effects of whole language approach on young children's language expression ability and creativity

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 총체적언어교육접근에 기초한 프로그램을 구성하여 이를 유아들에게 실험처치로 실시한 후 유아의 언어표현력 및 창의성에 미치는 효과를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이에 따른 구체적인 연구문제는 다음과 같다.
1. 총체적언어교육접근 프로그램이 유아의 언어표현력에 어떠한 효과가 있을 것인가?
2. 총체적언어교육접근 프로그램이 유아의 창의성에 어떠한 효과가 있을 것인가?
본 연구는 전남 장성군에 위치한 Y초등학교병설유치원의 2학급 4,5세 유아 34명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 실험집단과 통제집단 간의 연령, 거주지역, 부모의 교육받은 년수 및 언어표현력과 창의성에 대한 사전검사 결과 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 측정도구는 언어표현력을 측정하기 위해 장영애(1981)가 제작한 언어능력 검사 중 언어표현력 변인을 검사하였으며 창의성의 측정은 Torrance의 창의적 사고력 검사 중 도형검사 A, B 형을 사용하였다.
실험집단은 총체적언어교육접근 프로그램을 실시하였으며 통제집단은 부호중심접근 프로그램에 의해 진행되었다. 실험처치는 주5회 6주동안 걸쳐 실시하였고, 사전·사후검사 후 수집된 자료는 SAS system으로 전산처리하여 t검증 하였다.
본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 총체적언어교육접근 프로그램은 유아의 언어표현력을 의미있게 향상시켰으며, 언어표현력의 하위영역인 단어수, 문장수, 내용의 연계, 창의적 표현 등의 항목도 유의미하게 향상되었다.
둘째, 총체적언어교육접근 프로그램은 유아의 창의성을 의미있게 향상시켰다. 또한 창의성의 하위영역인 유창성, 융통성, 독창성, 정교성 등에서도 유의미하게 향상되었다.
본 연구의 결과를 통해 총체적언어교육접근은 유아의 언어표현력 및 창의성 증진에 효과가 있음을 나타내주고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this thesis is to show the effects on young children's ability with language expression and creativity after being exposed to a program based on whole language approach.
The detailed subjects of this study are as follows.
1. How much does whole language approach program have an effect on young children's ability with language expression?
2. What kinds of effects will produce young children's creativity after whole language approach program has been applied to young children?
For this study, two classes consisting thirty-four kindergarten young children around 4 to 5 years old were chosen attached to "Y elementary school" located in Chang-sung, Chonnam. There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group through the pre-survey with regards to ability with language expression and creativity. Other factors considered were age, residence area, and parents' educational background. The test of variable factors, which affect language expression, was mainly examined. This is one of the test methods designed by Chang Young-ahe in 1981. However, for estimating creativity, diagram test A, B was chosen, one of the Torrance's test methods for estimating creative consideration.
A whole language approach program was tested on the experimental group and a code-approach program was applied to the control group. This test was carried out five times a week for 6 weeks and the result of the pre-test and main test was computerized with the SAS system.
The conclusion of this study is as follows.
First, a whole language approach program evaluated young children's ability of language expression and developed significantly sub-categorized items like the number of words, number of sentences, relation with contents, creative expression, etc.
Second, a whole language approach program meaningly evaluated young children's creativity. It also made an progress In sub-categorized items such as fluency, flexibility, creativity, elaborateness, etc.
As a conclusion, this study shows that whole language approach program has an effect on young children's development of language expression and creativity.
