This thesis is about the notion of cultural assemblage and chronology for the plain coarse pottery culture on early bronze age in central Korea. It was begun with Misa-ri Cultural Assemblage, Karak-dongCultural Assemblage, Youksam-dong and Heunam-ri Cultural Assemblage, Misa-ri Cultural Assemblage is a kind of cultural assemblage that was found at the basin of Han river and Nam river. It is distinction which has Misa-ri style dwelling site with fire place including stone devices, Misa-ri style pottery, and polished stone tools like arrowhead. We can date which has comb pattern pottery factors as Misa-ri Cultural Assemblage I phase(Misa-ri style pottery phase) and which has only plain coarse pottery factors like sanchin-ri site as Misa-ri Cultural Assemblage II phase.
Karak-dong Cultural Assemblage is based on Keum river around Taejon and Chungjoo and it says strong geographical distribution, It is a kind of distinction which has Dunsan style dwelling site with comer stones and fire place including stone devices, Karak-dong style pottery, and polished stone daggers with blood hole and two stage grip. It developed from 1 to m phase according to the structure of dwelling site and variation of artifacts.
The structure of dwelling site in Youksam-dong and Heunam-ri Cultural Assemblage has rectangular or extremely rectangular plane, fire place with no devices and post holes. Also it is a kind of distinction of pottery that is consist of only rim-perforated pottery and burnished red pottery or with Heunam-ri style pottery which has double lips and short diagonal line decoration. Lastly stone tools are composed of polished stone daggers with blood hole and two stage grip, arrowheads, and semi-lunar stones knives. It developed from I to IV phase according to the attribute of decoration pattern of pottery and dabusoho.
Early plain coarse pottery culture in south Korea was formed by cultural diffusion and contact from north-west and north-east Korea including Lining area. But that kind of diffusive process and phenomena were not based on only single line.
