This thesis was not only written to clarify the relations among three elements, after I investigated the actual condition such as troubles that a married couple perceive in common, self-differentiation and the cruel treatment towards their children; but also to analyze how both a married couple's conflict and self-differentiation levels effects to their children. Saying again, after grasping some influences which a married couple conflict and self-differentiation Level is reflected to both a married life and their children's ill-treatment centering around Bowen's theory, I'm going to represent the basic data that will be helped to children ill-treatment remedy.
For this I investigated the actual situations with the subject of studying parents of students(214 couples―428 persons) of the kindergartens, junior high schools which are located in Seoul City and the metropolitan area by questionnaire. I used the self-differentiation measure, married couples measure, children ill-treatment measure, as an instrument used in this study.
Some results which was analyzed in this study are as followings.
Firstly, as the major reasons of married couples' conflict, it was showed as into the first conflict occurring from the dissimilarity in character, the second one from communication each other, the third one from children problems besides the ones from the affection's deficiency, economic difficulties and sexual life, etc. Also it was showed that woman is higher than husband in the conflict degrees of conjugal relations.
Secondly, it showed that it is hardly differences in their self-differentiation levels. It can be considered as a the result supporting Brown's theory, which is hardly differences in self-differentiation levels between married couples. But although it is hardly differences between them, it showed that wife have been experienced much conflict than husband between them. As it is showed to being remarkable when I saw the problems of spouse's house, we could see the real condition of the Korean home structure was not fitting with Bowen theory in family relationship.
Thirdly, the physical and linguistic ill-treatment on their children was showed that mother is more doing it than father. And the most of the married couples who replied the questionnaires are abusing their children, by using threatening language which is a subcategorization among linguistic ill-treatments.
Fourthly, in consequence of analysis, all causes of married conflicts were affected as a variable elements to get along amicably among families. The couples' (physical and linguistic) ill-treatment related to their children has been affected mostly by variables of violence observation, couples's linguistic ill-treatment by violence experience, mother-their children ill-treatment by wife's scholar career, linguistic ill-treatment of father-their children by children's numbers and oftenness of a husband-and-wife fight, linguistic ill-treatment of mother-their children by unsatisfaction to wife's occupation.
Fifthly, Between (physical and linguistic) self-differentiation and ill-treatment related to their children, there is some negative(-) features like correlations between self-differentiation and couples' confliction degrees, too. Against this, there is positive(+) features between couples' conflict and (physical and linguistic) ill-treatment related to their hildren. Sixthly, married couples' conflict and ill-treatment to their children is affected by self-differentiation levels as the result of analyzing the effects reach to married couples' conflict and children ill-treatment. That is to say, the more self-differentiation levels is high, married couples' conflict is low; ill-treatment related to their children is less. Also an ill-treatment related to their children is connected closely with couples' conflict. This reflects that the more couples' conflict is big, the more physical and linguistic ill-treatment are many.
Lastly, children ill-treatment has been more affected by degrees of married couples' conflict than self-differentiation levels―it appeared low far when married couples' conflicts were very low and self-differentiation levels were very high. Seeing into details, (physical and linguistic) ill-treatment of father related to children is more affected by the degrees of married couples' conflict than self-differentiation levels, on the other hand, physical ill-treatment of mother related to children is more affected by self-differentiation levels, linguistic ill-treatment of mother related to children is more affected by married couples' conflict.
