The purpose of this research was to examine how group music activity affects the progress of positive self-concepts amongst preschool children. The subject of study, 64 children (ages 4~6) out of 126 children who attended kindergarten located at Song-pa gu, were randomly divided into two groups. The experiment group, consisting of 64 children who receives music therapy and the regiment group of 31 children who does not receive music therapy. Only 60 children were included in the final analysis, excluding those absent during the 4 week experiment or those who did not receive post-therapy examination. The 5 experiment groups (5~7 children per group) participated in 12 sessions (3 sessions per week, 40 minutes per session) of music activity for 4 weeks, whereas the regiment group was allowed free time to do whatever they wanted to do apart from music.
