The purpose of this study is to ind out the effectiveness to improvement of ability of performing their jobs by applying Halpern's Transition education program to high school students.
Ten people among the second to third years of the special high school students were selected as the sample.
The study method based on Halpern's Transitional education program is re-structured and the method consists of recognition, application, and practice.
Practice was done by On-The-Job training in a local company.
40 items of Daily life skills and 45 items of job skills of BRS (Behavior Rating Scales) and SFAB ( Survey of Functional Adaptive Behaviors), which are one of the factors of MDS unification-reaction, are used for the examing method.
This research done for an year is based on the single subject case study, and t-test for comparing the past to the post of this program was performed.
The results of this study are :
1. Halpern's transition education program affects the levels of the job performing ability of the mental retardation.
2. Halpern's transition education program affects the levels of the daily life skills of the mental retardation.
3. Halpern's transition education program affects the levels of the job skills of the mental retardation.
As a result,
Halpern's transition education program with On-the-job training improves the levels of special high school students' ability of performing their jobs.
