The purpose of this research is to explore the job satisfaction of kindergarten teachers and analyze its the related factors in order to enhance the satisfaction.
The projects of this study to achieve such a purpose are as follows:
First, how's the job satisfaction of the kindergarten teachers according to the trends of the whole and related factors?
Second, does the job satisfaction of the kindergarten teachers depend on the teacher's backgrounds factors (age, academic background, marital status, and experience) ?
Third, does the job satisfaction of the kindergarten teacher depend on the situation factors of a kindergarten (public/private, the number of kids in charge, and kinds of programs)?
The subjects of this research consist of 242 teachers including 84 teachers of public kindergartens and 158 of private kindergartens.
T-test and Sheffe test are used in this study.
The results of this research are as follows:
First, most teachers are moderately satisfied with their job. Its related factors like confidence, human relationship, working environment, social security, promotion, job security, work burden, welfare, and pay have an influence on the satisfaction. The teachers have the greatest satisfaction in their confidence and secondly, human relationship. They have the lowest satisfaction in their pay.
Second, related factors based on the background of each teacher are connected with the job satisfaction. Age, academic background, marital status and experience have an influence on the job satisfaction.
Third, public school teachers have greater satisfaction than private school counterparts do.
The conclusions of this research are as follows:
First, the things to be improved urgently are the welfare of the teachers and their pay. The pay of kindergarten teachers should be leveled with that of company employees so that they can be devoted to teaching with confidence, Among other things, the private kindergarten teachers should be paid depending on the standards set by the government. And the welfare, medical insurance, and national pension for the private teachers should be improved.
Second. for young or inexperienced teachers the job satisfaction can be increased through a variety of training and the encouragement of learning by colleague teachers or of clinical learning. They can also learn about the effective teaching methods and have a good relationship with parents.
Third, the teachers with lower academic background should have many opportunities for further learning and professional knowledge. Thus, they can devote themselves to their work with professionalism and satisfaction.
Fourth, the teachers in charge of an overcrowded class need to reduce the work burden with the help of assistant teachers or volunteers.
Fifth, the teachers with heavy burden can concentrate on their job satisfactorily if they are relieved of the work burden through assistant teachers or volunteers and given the benefit of welfare or a raise of pay.
