The purpose of this study is to review the concept and importance of infants' manners education, and to investigate the degree of the effect of the green- tea manners education on the improvement of infants ' manners.
For the subject of this study, 33 were sampled randomly from 171 children who were attending J kindergarten in Taegu City in 1999. They were divided generally into test group and control group in accordance to each test treatment condition, then the test group was divided again into connection group and un-connection group randomly(each group with 11 children).
Pre-test was conducted over table manners, greeting etiquette and verbal manners, that are related to this study, among 4 kinds of virtues of basic living habits, and then after 3 months' test treatment, post-test was conducted over the same object.
After collecting basic materials for study by the above way, MANOVA (multivariate analysis) was conducted over the materials, setting up the grades of 3 areas of manners as dependent variable. Univariate analysis and Scheffe post-test were conducted over each sub-areas that was found out to be statistically significant. And statistic significance test was carried out at significance level of .05.
The results of this study, through above experimental and statistical treatment, are as follows ;
Firstly, there was a difference in mean value of each manners area between the group that received green-tea manners education and the group that did not. Treatment group showed higher value than control group. In other words, green-tea education improved infants ' manners greatly. Followings are the results of consideration by category ; ① In case of table manners, 'unconnection group' with parents has improved more than 'control group' that did not get green-tea education, and 'connection group' with parents has improved much more. ② In case of greeting etiquette, 'unconnection group' has improved than 'control group', and 'connection group' has improved much more. ③ In case of verbal manners, 'unconnection group' has improved greatly, and 'connection group' has improved much more.
Secondly, in all 3 manners areas, there was difference in all the statistical value including Wilks' Lambda, the statistical value of multivariate analysis, between treatment groups(connection group and unconnection group) and control group. To investigate any concrete difference between control group and treatment group about each manners area, Scheffe's post-test procedure was applied. And the results are as follows ; ① In case of table manners, treatment group(connection group and unconnection group) showed a higher value than control group, and there was a statistically significant difference between them. But there was no statistically significant difference between conection group and unconnection group. It means that green-tea manners education is effective for improving infants' table manners education, but can not expect any ascending effect by way of education connected with parents. ② In case of greeting etiquette, treatment group showed a higher value than control group, and there was statistically significant difference. In other words, green- tea manners education was found out to be effective for improving infants' table manners education, and also there was an ascending effect by way of education connected woith parents. ③ In case of verbal manners, treatment group showed a higher value than control group, and there was a statistically significant difference. Also connection group showed mean value 1.7 point higher than unconnection group, and there was a statistically significant difference.
To synthesize above findings, generally green-tea education has a considerable effect on the improvement of infants' green-tea manners. Especially, green-tea manners education becomes more effective, when it is connected with parents. However in case of table manners, it is improved by green-tea manners education, but the education connected with parents is not more effective
