전통놀이가 유아의 언어발달에 미치는 영향 : 윷놀이,비석치기,팽이치기,댓귀 마추기를 중심으로 = (The) effects of traditional plays in children's language development

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 전통놀이(윷놀이, 비석치기, 팽이치기, 댓귀맞추기)가 유아의 언어발달(어휘력, 언어이해력, 언어표현력)에 어떠한 영향을 미치며, 유아의 연령과 성별에 따라 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고, 그 교육적 의의를 밝혀 유아교육 현장에서 전통놀이를 보다 효율적으로 적용할 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다.
이러한 목적에서 다음과 같은 3가지 연구문제를 설정하였다.
1. 전통놀이(윷놀이, 비석치기, 팽이치기, 댓귀맞추기)는 유아의 언어발달(어휘력, 언어이해력, 언어표현력)에 어떠한 영향을 미칠 것인가?
2. 전통놀이(윷놀이, 비석치기, 팽이치기, 댓귀맞추기)는 유아의 연령에 따라 언어발달에 어떠한 영향을 미칠 것인가?
3. 전통놀이(윷놀이, 비석치기, 팽이치기, 댓귀맞추기)는 유아의 성별에 따라 언어발달에 어떠한 영향을 미칠 것인가?
이를 위하여 연구대상은 천안의 H유치원에 재원중인 만 4세 유아 52명(여: 34, 남: 18)과 청주의 S유치원에 재원중인 만 5세 유아 76명(여: 32, 남: 44)으로 총 128명을 사전검사를 거쳐 각 64명씩 실험집단과 통제집단에 배정하였다.
실험에 사용된 전통놀이는 윷놀이, 비석치기, 팽이치기와 댓귀맞추기의 네 가지였다. 윷놀이, 비석치기, 팽이치기는 교육부(1993)의 연구와 신동주(1996)의 연구에서 제시된 유아들이 즐겨하는 전통놀이 10가지 중에서 선정되었으며, 댓귀맞추기는 유안진(1981)의 연구에서 유아기에 적절한 놀이라는 점을 참고하여 선정하였다.
이들 전통놀이 프로그램은 1998년 9월14일부터 16일까지 3일간 교사교육을 한 후, 1998년 9월 28일부터 11월 27일까지 약 8주간 본 실험을 실시하였다. 그리고 전통놀이가 유아의 언어발달에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 장영애(1981)의 '언어능력 검사'를 실시하여 차이검정(paired t-test)을 하였다.
자료처리 방법으로 첫째, 언어능력 검사의 결과는 평균(M)과 표준편차(SD)를 구하였다. 둘째, 실험집단과 통제집단의 선정을 위하여 두 집단간 언어능력 검사점수를 차이검정(paired t-test)하였다. 셋째, 전통놀이 프로그램의 실시 효과를 검정하기 위하여 하위요인별, 연령별, 성별로 차이검정(paired t-test)을 하였다. 이상의 분석 절차는 SPSS/PC+ 통계프로그램으로 분석 처리하였다.
본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 전통놀이는 유아의 언어발달에 영향을 미치며, 특히 언어표현력에 많은 영향을 미친다.(P<.01).
둘째, 전통놀이는 유아의 연령에 따라 언어발달에 영향을 미치며, 특히 5세아의 언어표현력에 영향을 미친다.(P<.01).
셋째, 전통놀이는 유아의 성별에 따라 남아, 여아 모두 언어발달에 영향을 미친다. 특히 남아와 여아의 언어표현력에 영향을 미친다.(P<.05).

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine how does the traditional plays (Yotnori, Biseokchigi Paeng-i chigi, Daetgumatchugi) have an effect on the children's language development(vocabulary, comprehensiveness, expression) in accordance with age and sex, and to provide the basic data that the traditional plays can be applied to the field of early childhood education by clarifying the educational meaning.
For these purpose, 3 questions were raised as follows ;
1. How does the traditional plays (Yotnori, Biseokchigi Paeng-i chigi, Daetgumatchugi) have an effect on the children's language development(vocabulary, comprehensiveness, expression)?
2. How does the traditional plays (Yotnori, Biseokchigi Paeng-i chigi, Daetgumatchugi) have an effect on the children's language development in accordance with children's age?
3. How does the traditional plays (Yotnori, Biseokchigi Paeng-i chigi, Daetgumatchugi) have an effect on the childrens language development in accordance with children's sex.
As the subjects for this study, 52 four-year-old children (boy:18, girl:34) of "H" kindergarten in Chunan and 76 five-year-old children(boy:44, girl:32) of "S" kindergarten in Chungju, were selected. A total of 128 children were tested in advance. And each 64 children was assigned to the experimental group and controlled group.
The traditional plays used in this study consisted of 4 items - Yotnori, Biseokchigi Paeng-i chigi and Daetgumatchugi. The former 3 items were selected among 10 traditional plays that most of children amuse themselves. The items also were presented in the study o Ministry of Education(1993), and the study of Shin Dong-ju(1996). The Daetgumatchugi was selected from the study of You An-jin(1981), regarding it as a well-matched play in childhood.
These traditional play programs were tested about 8 weeks from Sept. 28 to November 27, 1998 after training teachers for 3 days form Sept. 14 to 16, 1998. In order to examine the influence of traditional play on the child's language development, the language competence test of Chang Young-ae(1981).
As a method of processing the data, First, the result of language competence test was indicated by the mean(M) and the standard deviation(SD). Second for the seletion of the experimented and the controlled group, the score of language competence test between two groups was obtained by the paired t-test. Third, in order to verify the effects of traditional play program the paired t-test was held by subordinate factor, age and sex. The procedures mentioned above was analyzed by SPSS/PC+ statistical program.
The results of this study are as follows ;
First the traditional play have an effects on the children's language development, in particular it has a great effects on the competence of language expression.(P<.01)
Second, the traditional play have an effects on the language development, in accordance with children's age, in particular, it has an effects on the competence of language expression of five-year-old children.(P<.01).
Third, the traditional play have an effects on the language development of boys and girls in accordance with children's sex. in particular, it has an effects on the competence of language expression of boys and girls.(P<.05).
