This thesis is to analyze the various views of Taekwondo History, mainly the traditional view and the revisionist view, in terms of Text Analysis Approach, which recently a group of scholars, the post-modernists, employs.
This approach isn't aimed at analyzing "the reality" itself, but aimed at analy-zing "the intentions" of the texts' writers.
This means that I or the post-modernists think that the text shouldn't be inter-preted by itself, but by reading the intention of writer's who might distort the r-eality in accordance with his or her personal interest.
"The existential determination of thought", as Karl Marx said, is the most appr-opriate proposition in this case, which I want to use as the way of this research.
As I studied, the traditional view of Taekwondo history turned out to besomething helpful to enhance the public good of Taekwondo circle, and the revisionists' view, in turn, do more harm than good.
However, we can't denounce the revisionists view or pseudo view of
Taekwondo history.
This is because every related view, in fact, reflects the authors'
social positions and personal interests.
This is not only truefor the views of Taekwondo history but true
for other social sciences.
The major contribution of revisionists view is its academic stimulus to the established view of Taekwondo history, the traditional view.
Ironically, the traditional view would not have been sophisticated as it is today without the appearance of the revisionists view, much the
same as the false or pseudo view's appearance.
Finally, the traditional view of Taekwondo history should be more
elaborated or sophisticated for the sake of Taekwondo's overall development.
