The purpose of this study is to observe what infants' parents and teachers recognize the traditional games and how to make the best use of it for infants, moreover to find out a fundamental data, and to make progress in the traditional games, together with the parents and teachers after analyzing some difficult problems when being adopted as an educational activity at the infants education facilities.
According to this purpose, the following study problems have been set up.
1. What are the parents' recognitions as to the traditional games?
2. What are the teachers' recognitions as to the traditional games?
3. What are the teachers' activity conditions to make the best of it at present.
The subject of this study was 270 parents of children who were attending public/private kindergartens, public/private/social welfare infants' houses and 176 teachers on duties at present in Daegu Metropolitan City, and Kyongsan City, Kyongbuk, Republic of Korea.
In order to find out the recognitions of the parents and the teachers, and the present situations about how to make the most of the traditional games for the infants, many enquete papers were delivered to the parents and the teachers all around as means of the investigation. Thus the data collected after the enquete were added up and taken statistics on into the frequency, percentage, average, standard declination, x^2-test and one-way ANOVA etc. using a method of SPSSWIN 10.0 statistic program.
The consequence of this study is as follows;
1. The infants' parents were thinking of necessity of the traditional games for their children, and also thinking of a hope of an educational practise for the game at the infants facilities. In fact they one time hesitated to teach or practise the traditional games from a lack of preliminary knowledge about it. At this point of view a connected plan in cooperation with the infants' parents about the games should be accomplished for the infants themselves.
2. The teachers were interested in the traditional games as well and asserted themselves that the infant education facilities should do open up various kinds of game styles making it fit closely to the developing level of most infants', and should promote a spread of it more and more. The teachers now on should make an effort to understand the infants' level of games exactly, and also make an effort for the practise of the games at the very spot of an education itself, that is to say, at the infants' education facilities not other place.
3. It was revealed that a degree of making the best of the games were not so high, mostly the main reason was a decisive lack of the game instruments.
Now let's take a look at the game instruments. They are almost not artificial ones, much less regular in its shape and dimension. And one more thing, there is no sufficient space for the games. Considerably ample space is needed. To encourage playing the traditional games, it is very urgent problem to prepare for the game ground above all things, and problems of development/ spread of the instrument for the games are no less important than the game ground problem. Those will eventually bring the great contribution to solve the problems. This investigator firmly believes here.
