도자공예의 사회교육현황에 대한 연구 : 대학부설 사회교육원을 중심으로

Our country's current social education performed by universities, compared to the one of advanced countries, is much less activated and also has many problems in its contents. That is to say, continuing education at university in Korea does not mean so much provision of an opportunity to learn more about social life as only the extension of the capacity of university or the number limit of a certain professional part.
Despite the original purpose of university continuing education that intends to offer unique lessons which can be served by only university, most of them are still opening plain programs centered on cultural subjects. In this situation that the cultural education center of many newspaper publishing companies, department stores, and other social institutions and private schools have already been doing them, it is needless for universities to compete with the organizations with the common lectures. The authentic meaning of university social education is to propagate the knowledges of university to as many people as possible. It is time that the educators of all universities should remind the meaning of continuing education such as a service and popularity and under the circumstances that most universities are devoted to expanding the size of them, they have to consider the possibility of diversification of university's function and develop it.
Regarding lifelong education, the potential abilities of university cannot be overemphasized. University have a position of the best academic institution and also is functioning as a leader which works for the development of a community's knowledge and the inner world and spread of that effects. Therefore, university is obliged to guide a society to improve the level of consciousness and morality and cultivate technology and knowledge. This function have to be recognized as important as the traditional role of university-for the representative example, the course for academic degrees-as a supplier of intellectual, cultural, and moral assets included in it to regional society and the general public. What we want to obtain through the continuing education is stability and settlement of desirable emotion as well as accumulation of complex and various knowledge.
The education of pottery hand craft arts, with the environment-oriented factor, soul, instructs the method to express mind and contributes to the development of desirable emotion. It would be possible to set a condition that human spirits are restored when this form of education combined with arts is carried on.
