In order to achieve the purpose, the following questions were raised:
First, are there any differences between normal adolescent's parent-adolescent communication style and delinquent adolescent's?
Second, are there any differences between normal adolescent's sexual attitude and behavior and delinquent adolescent's?
Third, are there any differences in adolescent sexual attitude according to adolescent sexual behavior level?
Fourth, are there any differences in adolescent sexual attitude according to parent-adolescent communication style?
Fifth, are there any differences in adolescent sexual behavior according to parent-adolescent communication style?
For this study, 370 adolescents(normal 178, delinquent 192) in age from 15 through 18 years were selected from two middle school, one high school, and Seoul Juvenile Classification Office
As measurement instrument, Barnes and Olson's Parent-Adolescent Communication; PAC which translating in Korean by Cho Eun Kyung (1992) for measuring parent-adolescent communication style was used. Adolescent sexual attitude questionnaire which DeGaston, Weed & Jensen used in their research 1996 for measuring adolescent sexual attitude was used. Adolescent sexual behavior was measured using the 6 items concerning sexual behavior and experience.
The collected data was analyzed by SPSS computer program: Frequency analysis, t-test, correlation, ANOVA, and Scheffe test.
The results of this study are as following:
First, for normal adolescent group, there was significant difference in the sexual attitude according to the gender.
Second, there was no correlation between parent-adolescent communication about sexuality and adolescent sexual attitude and behavior.
Third, there was no significant difference between normal adolescent's parent-adolescent communication style and delinquent adolescent's.
Fourth, there was significant difference between normal adolescent's sexual attitude and behavior and delinquent adolescent's.
Fifth, there was no significant difference in adolescent sexual attitude and behavior according to parent-adolescent communication style.
