The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of mother's self-concept and child's.
In order to achieve this purpose, the questions for research were as follows:
1. How is the mother's self-concept level?
2. How is the child's self-concept level?
3. How is the child's self-concept level related with mother's self-concept level?
The subjects of the study were 160 preschool children and their mothers in Kyong-gi Province.
In order to examine the mother's self-concept and child's, questionnaire method and interview method were used respectively.
The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, F-test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient with the SPSS computer program.
The results of research are as follows:
1. It appears that mother's self-concept is closely related with her educational level, especially the higher the educational level is, the higher self-concept score she gets.
2. Generally children appears to have the affirmative self-concept and the self-concept of boy's is more affirmative than that of girl's.
3. It appears that mother's self-concept is closely related with child's self-concept and especially more closely related with girl's self-concept than boy's.
