This paper is to study the relationship between mother's children-rearing attitude and children's moral judgement.
To accomplish for this purpose the following assumptions were established.
1. Is there a difference in mother's children-rearing attitude type according to mother's age and academic background?
2. Is there a difference in children's moral judgement level according to children's age and sex?
3. Is there a difference in children's moral judgement level according to mother's children-rearing attitude?
The object of this study was 233 children of 5 years old at 8 kindergarten, 211children of 7 years old at elementary schools and their 444 parents in Suwon city. For the study 'the test of the children-rearing attitudes of parents' by Park Young-yae(1995) was used. For children's moral judgement 'the test of moral judgement' translated by Yi Ki-woo(1982) and picture materials given by Chow Sung-sook(1997) were used.
To analyse for this data, average, standard deflection, x^(2), verification and Scheffe' after verification were used.
The result of study is as follows:
First, there are not meaningful differences in her children-rearing attitude according to mother's age and academic background.
Second, there are meaningful difference in their moral judgement according to children's age and sex, but not meaningful differences in children's sex.
Third, there are meaningful relations between mother's children-rearing attitude and children's moral judgement. Children's moral judgement was higher when their mother's rearing attitude was very kind-hearted, receptive and contorted.
As the result of this study, in conclusion, the desirable moral education for children is not education for knowledge, but their parents have to give an example of their living through real experience. Parents should guide their children consistently to grow up in harmony.
