    The purpose of this research is to find out the level of understandings of professors, directors, and teachers about ecology centered early childhood education. This research is to outline the direction the ecology centered early childhood education should take. Below are the research problems that are dealt with in this research. First, what are the understandings of professors, directors, and teachers about the status of current ecology system? Second, what are the understandings of professors, directors, and teachers to the present early childhood education? Third, what are the understandings of professors, directors, and teachers about ecology centered early childhood education? Fourth, what are the ideas of professors, directors, and teachers about the preconditions and problems that arise when practicing the ecology centered early childhood education?
    The research targets used in this research are a total of 526 people; 71 professors from the departments of Early Childhood Education and Child & Family Studies located in the Pusan, Ulsan, Kyung-nam areas and 88 directors and 367 teachers of both private and public kindergartens and child care centers. The research tool used for this research is a questionnaire asking the ´understandings of professors, directors and teachers about the ecology centered early childhood education´ that has 48 questions including the forty one 5-ponts rating scale asking about each research target.
    The important results of this research are summarized below.
    First, the results on the ´understandings of the current ecology system´ came out to an average of 4.18 points for the three research groups. The points for the professors were 4.22, the directors were 4.24, and the points for the teachers were 4.16. All three groups had a tendency of favoring the ecology system.
    Second, the results for the ´understandings of the present early childhood education were, professors 2.60 points, directors 3.30 points, and teachers 3.30 points which comes to the average of 3.21 points. This shows that the levels of understanding were in the middle of the technology oriented tendency and the ecology centered tendency. This also shows that the professors have the tendency that the present early childhood education is centered upon skill of understandings more so than that of the directors and teachers.
    Third, the result of the question asking ´the satisfaction level of the present early childhood education´ came out as 2.60 points for the professors, 2.69 points for the directors, and 2.84 points for the teachers which shows that all three groups are not satisfied with the present ecology centered early childhood education.
    Forth, all three research targets answered the ´pre-condition for the operation of ecology centered early childhood education´ was that ´new ecology centered programs have to be developed and supplied´ first.
    Fifth, for the ´problems arising when practicing the ecology centered early childhood education´, 49.3% of professors answered ´lack of information of the ecology centered early childhood education´, 23.9% of directors answered ´lack of neighborhood environment´, and 48.0% of teachers have answered ´lack of information of the ecology centered early childhood education´ have to be settled first.
    The summaries of the important results of this research are listed below.
    First, for the understanding of the ecology system, all three research targets did not have the tendency for firmly favoring the ecology system. However, they recognize the crisis of environment and know why this crisis is occurring. Also, they have the understanding that to overcome this crisis one has to know the limits of technology, the policy of the government has to be changed, and proper education has to be given.
    Second, to the understanding of the present early childhood education, there are some difference of understandings, but they recognized that the present early childhood education is not nature based but mostly technology based and they are not satisfied with the present system. This shows that they understand that the present technology oriented early childhood education has to be changed to the ecology centered early childhood education.
    Third, for this change to happen, new ecology centered early childhood education programs have to be made and applied. Also, the present early childhood education with the education system of promoting teachers and directors has to be changed to a whole new direction.
    Conclusively, for humans and nature to live a happy life, the young children who are the main source of the future have to be educated properly. For this to happen, the professors, directors, and teachers who are in charge of the early childhood education have to be changed. They have the proper understandings and the will of participating for the ecology centered early childhood education and so development of new programs and supplement, new educational system in early childhood education, and the education system for teachers and directors have to be changed.
