The ultimate purpose of this study is to represent the effective method for undertaking current cadastral surveying works and cadastral resurveying project to improve the accuracy of the boundary coordinates of land parcels, through analyzing and comparison of the surveying results both Total Station surveying techniques and GPS surveying techniques.
For examination of reliability, analyzing of the processing results both in WGS 84 (World Geodetic System 84) coordinate system and in National Geodetic Datum is carried out after GPS surveying on a certain area.
There after another comparison, analyzing and examination for the adjusted results are conducted by transformation method which is suitable in Korean situation , As a result, numerical cadastral map can be produced more rapidly and conveniently with better accuracy.
In the value of coordinates of land parcels, the surveying results of using Total Station surveying techniques and Real Time Kinematic GPS surveying techniques are compared and analyzed. As a results, the difference in X axis is only 0.02m and in Y axis is 0.02m. Therefore the latter surveying method is available to use for production of numerical cadastral map at a large scale and for field surveying in farmland adjustment area. Furthermore travers surveying is not needed to be done when horizontal position of the boundary of a land parcel is determined by the method of RTK. It is recognized as a effective and efficient method in rapid, accurate and economical aspects.
This study shows that the surveying method of RTK makes various surveing works to be practicable such as traverse surveying, parcel boundary surveying and production of a numerical cadastral map with high accuracy. In additon this study also present the way of using GPS effectively in all cadastral surveying works, specially in cadastral resurveying project in near future.
