The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between sex-role attitu -de and marital satisfaction of husbands and wives and to provide basic data for a desivable conjugal relationship.
The research used the questionaire survey. For this purpose, a questionaire was constructed and administraited to 428 married couples living in chonnam.
Such methods as frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA ), Pearson's correlation and regression we used for the statistical analysis for this study.
The results of this study are summarized as follows.
1. Both husbands and wives have middle level attitude toward sex role, and wives have relatively modernized attitude toward sex role than husbands, however, there is no significant difference. Wives have relatively modern attitude when their education level and family income level are higher.
2. Couples marital satisfaction is generally on middle level. Husbands marital satisfaction is relatively higher than that of spouses.
There is no significant difference in husbands marital satisfaction according to the related variables. However wives' family income level make significant difference in wives marital satisfaction.
3. Husbands' sex-role attitude makes significant differences in the spouses' marital satisfaction (p<0.05). However wives' sex-role attitude makes significant differences in the couples' marital satisfaction (husbands; p.<0.05, wives; p<0.001 ).
Therefore, both husbands and wives are more satisfided with their marriage lives when husbands have traditional sex-role attitude and especially when husbands have more traditional sex-role attitude than that of their wives.
