This study researched into the father's recognition about his role-playing, in order to emphasize the father's educational role and to get the theoretical frame for the study of the relation between the father and the young child. The results are as follows:
1. For the father's role-characteristics that the father recognizes for the time of his child's babyhood, 'the role of disciplinary education' was emphasized most, and, then, 'the role of character formation,' 'the role of health control' and 'the fole of health control' and 'the role of making his child emotionally peaceful' appeared as the nests. And, 'the role of making up human environment,' 'the role of capacity development' and 'the role to endeavour for the sake of himself as parent' appeared performing rather lower level of role-playing.
2. For the differences in the father's role-characteristics classified by age, 'the role to hand down the traditional value system of the society 'showed a trend to be emphasized more as the age becomes higher; when classified by academic background, the lower father's background emphasized 'the role to endeavour for the sake of himself as parent; also the one classified by economic level emphasized 'the role to endeavour for the sake of himself as parent'; and, these showed higher points in case of the father within lower income class rather than the one within high income class.
3. And, for the differences in the father's role characteristics classified by the young child's sexual difference, there appeared no significant difference. But, some significant difference appeared in case of those classified by child's age. Especially, emphases on 'the role of disciplinary education,' 'the role to make him emotionally 'peaceful,' and 'the role to hand down the traditional value system of the society 'appeared meaningful. The difference according to the number of children appeared meaningful in case of 'the role to make the child emotionally peaceful'; and , the role-playing of the father who has only one child appeared relatively more significant than the case of the one who has two children.
