The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception on teacher's Current social and economic status in secondary schools .
The questionnair developed by the investigor a administed to a total 484 secondary teachers and a total of 372 parents.
Data analysis of the questionnair is frequencies and percentage.
The results of this study are an follows :
1. The teacher's general perception on the teaching profession appeared to be negative without motivation and prolessional pride .
2. The teacher's perception on the social status is Low while the parent's perception is relatively high compared to the other profession and occupation by same education level. The teachers Lacked the professionalism while the parent perceived the teaching an a profession to be respected.
3. The teacher's perception on the economic status is Low while the parents perception is relatively high compared to the other profession and occupation by same education Level. The teachers weighted economic status higher while the parents did riot .
4. The relative positive of teaching profession compared to other profession and occupation is average. Teachers ranked lower than the parents did :
5. Teachers emphasized professional committment and pay increase while the purents emphasized professional knowledge in-eluding teaching skills and qualification of teachers concerning the factors to improve teacher's status.
The suggestions out of this study are as follows :
1. Some measures to improve teacher's social and economic status at this point by the government authorities .
2. The teacher's professionalism should be encouraged by teacher themselves in order to improve the teachers social status .
3. Administrative authorities should reconsidered in order to improve the teacher's economic status.
4. The teachers should make an additional efforts in order
to improve their professional knowledge and teaching skills.
