靑少年 自願奉仕活動과 市民性 發達에 관한 硏究 = Study for Voluntary Service Activities of the Youth and Development of Citizenship

Recently, due to material richness and comfortable living of industrial society, our society had not the spiritual ability to control well the material, so the consciousness such as materialism, non-humanization, alienation, individualization, adequatism, and the other thoughts etc. are churned out in our society.
When our society suffers from this problem, any one newspaper company became a social concern by extending a campaign of "let's find the joy by service", and several companies and universities participated in it. Seoul Educational Office let the 1st year students of middle school to serve voluntarily for 40 hrs, per year obligatorily since 1995, and in「May 31, educational reform」method, let record the items about the voluntary service activities of middle and high school students in "General life register". This is the reason why the voluntary service activities of the youth are considered as 'Service Learning' and the voluntary service activities are emphasized as one education of human nature & morality.
Recognizing the importance of the youth's voluntary service activities, I, the researcher, made up a question to the middle & high school students in Seoul in dividing them into the ones who experienced the voluntary service activities and the ones who didn't experience the voluntary service activities so as to clarify the relation of the youth's voluntary service activities and citizenship, and grope the necessity of activation of voluntary service by studying the range which influences on the development of civil property.
By dividing the human dignity, sympathy formation, respect for law and consciousness for order, human nature & morality, social nature, communal consciousness, democratic consciousness, etc, as the sub-range of citizenship, the conclusion obtained by the crosstabs tables and t-test, and one-way ANOVA is as follows.
1. The development of citizenship of the youth who participated in the voluntary service is higher than others.
2. In the youth who participated in the voluntary service, the development of citizenship of the youth who participated more frequently is higher than others.
3. The range in which the development of citizenship by voluntary service activities is the highest is the human nature, morality and communal consciousness.
I will suggest several plans as follows, for activation of the youth's voluntary service activities on the basis of the study results about the youth's voluntary service activities and the development of citizenship.
1. For the youth's voluntary service activities, the pre-education must be preceded.
2. By reflecting the results of the voluntary service on diverse examinations, it must be activated.
3. The installation of center managing the youth's voluntary service activities is needed.
4. For the youth's voluntary service activities, the financial support plan of government must be suggested.
As the study about the youth's voluntary service activities and the development of citizenship is the basically one that there are little the actual results, I hope suggest the following issues for the deeper study in future.
1. For the development of teaching materials, the establishment of systematic theory for voluntary service activities is needed.
2. The range of voluntary service being adequate for each school year, each step must be fixed.
3. It is necessary to re-investigate this study in extracting the national samples by forming the standardized testing paper.
