      A. The purpose of the study.
      The purpose of this study is to investigate the real conditions of middle school students' view of value and provide fundemental data for the guidance of the view of value and to suggest the desirable direction on it.
      B. The method of the study.
      Through cluster sampling, total 405 boys and girls who are the second year of middle school in Chungbuk(in city 204, in town 201) took part in this study.
      In this research, students selected the same or similar answer to the questions about the view of nation, society, home, education, ethics, and life.
      All the data collected were classified according to sex and district, and were computerized frequency and x^2 by SAS program.
      C. Conclusion.
      1. Students in city think more affirmatively about our racial characteristics and they want more eagerly the unification than students in town.
      2. The greater part of the middle school students think success and the contribution for social development need effort not ability, and they want themselves to be respectable persons who possess the virtue and good character.
      3. Middle school students want to live freely, and to have their parents' love. Students in town want their parents to have strong will, but students in city want their parents to have much more money.
      4. Students in city think that going to college means to have good jobs and make much money. But students in town think that going to college means to study and to get much knowledge.
      5. The respect of parents means to obey for right things, and girl students than boy students are stronger in respect. Supporting parents, the succession of traditional customs and ancestor worship are stronger than students in town.
      6. It's shown that the students living in town think their future will be hopeful, but those who in city think it is difficult to say. And students in city like jobs which are good for their ability and aptitude, also like to have much pay.
      7. All students want clothing, food, and shelter according to their living condition. And they want to live independent house. The students in city like Korean-style dress and clothes which have famous trademark. Students in town want school uniforms.
