There are many studies showing that anxiety degree has direct correlation with affective disorders and adaptive functioning disorders, and that malajustment is followed to irrational belief. Also, in foreigner' studies, we can find irrational belief is main factor of anxiety disorder.
The purpose of this study is to identify the relation between irrational belief and anxiety in elementary school children.
To achieve this purpose, some questions were established as follows;
1. Are there any differences in anxiety according to children's irrational belief degree?
2. Is there any differences in anxiety according to "gender"?
3. Is there interaction effect between irrational belief and gender of children?
To solve these questions, irrationality test (Lee Jae Soon, 1991) and anxiety test (Heo Hyeong, 1970) were examined into with 335 children (boys 170, girls 165) who were selected in a school each classes A, B, C in a region.
As the indicator of 25% ile and 75% ile concluded by statistics of irrationality test accords and devision in every 10 fields lower, I classified groups (high degree group, moderated degree group, low degree group in irrational belief).
Three groups above and 'gender' were made independent variables and 'anxiety degree' 'dependent variable'.
The results of this study can be summarized as followes;
1) Anxiety is directly relevant to children's irrationality test accords except one subscale.
2) Females have higher anxiety degree than males.
3) There are no interaction effects between irrational belief and gender to anxiety.
