The purpose of this study was to assess the situations of the management of the private kindergartens and to investigated superintendents' views about successful management.
196 superintendents of private kindergartens were questioned by mail survey and telephone interview. To analyze the data gathered One-way ANOVA, Scheffe Post Test, Frequency and Percentage were used.
The results of the study were as follows ;
First, Regarding evaluation of the management, the kindergartens were managed properly when their sizes were big, the careers of the superintendents were long and collecting children was made quickly and properly.
Second, At the result of investigation of the conditions for good management.
1) with regard to children, social and emotional development of children was more focused than intellectual development. 2) With regard to teachers. the personality of teachers was focused. But regarding the recognition of teachers' academic background and the ratios between teacher and children, realistic and financial difficulties were found. 3) With regard to instruction-learning method and evaluation, utilizing instructional materials, the role of teachers for daily educational activity, evaluation of children's reactions, and inner supervision about instruction-learning teaching-learning were mostly focused. 4) With regard to parents, the proper frequency of parents' visiting kindergartens and the contents of parent education were varied. 5) With regard to gook advertising method, it was recommended to use parents and their community.
Third, Superintendents' recognitions of successful management were also varied. 1) Most superintendents(90%) believed that their kindergartens were being managed successfully. And the standards of their evaluation were good reputation from their community, trust, and improvement of children's behaviors through good curriculums. 2) Superintendents' detail strategies for successful management have revealed the tendency of putting priority on their professional abilities and improving the educational conditions by evaluation, and followed by proper tuition according to situation of their own community and appreciation of the importance parents' participations.
3) The results showed that superintendents have attained informations for management from personal and practical parts such as variable seminars, workshops, data from field, and their own social relations.
