The objectives of this study were to assess the relationship between family cohesion & adaptability as perceived by general high school student and career decision-making.
The subjects were 538 students of general high school students residing in Seoul and Pucheon.
To assess the family cohesion and its adaptability, Olson, Portner & Lavee(1985)'s Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scales Ⅲ(Faces Ⅲ) were employed. And to assess career decision-making, Assesment of Career Decision Making(ACDM) which was developed by Buck and Daniels(1986) and translated by Seo, Woo Seok were employed. The data was analyzed with Pearson correlation, mean, and one-way ANOVA.
The major findings were as follows :
First, The general high school students who perceived the higher family cobesion were more rational style but the students who perceived lower family cohesion were more dependent style.
Second, The general high school students who perceived the lower family adaptability were more dependent style but the students who perceived the higher family adaptability were more rational style.
The result from this study were discussed in connection with a career counseling, importance of family, and career education.
