다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to examine closely by analyzing and studying the enlightened thought immanent Lee, In Jik's novels.
It is true that it is not yet satisfactory to say that studios on the new novels or Lee, In Jik's new novels until now are obtained as the result of close analysis research on individual works. Also, studies until now on the new novels including Lee, In Jik's novels or studies on thought or appraisal of value of Lee, In Jik's novels are insufficient.
Therefore, this study aimed to examine more closely the enlightened thought appeared on Lee, In Jik's novels based on critical consideration of such traditional research result or outcome. Also, for right research and examination, this study aimed to trace the thought, and examine its nature in organic relations of works through the method of analysis and generalization of his novels concentrately on all thought of his novels.
Next, it was tried to obtain the foundation of appraisal of the though of Lee, In Jik's novels by comparing with the systems of other several thoughts. His thought was studied, hoping it was possible, by comparing with Yeonam's novel, "Chun-Hyang-Jeon" which reflects demoratism thought in the later state of Chosun era, and the situation shown against the invasion of outside influence such as the tought of Yu, Gil Jun, the thought of loyal troops and "Dae Han Daily Paper," etc.
This study is largely classified in order as follows :
First, the enlightened thought observed the growth process and its characteristics of the character in the novel.
Second, the way of thinking and enlightened thought of character in the novel.
Third, the enlightened thought and nature of the writer appeared in his works.
Fourth, the double-sided nature of Lee, In Jik's novels.
As the result, the new appraisal and conclusion concerning the enlightened thought and the romantic nature related to his enlightened thought of Lee, In Jik's novels could be obtained as follows :
1. Although there are many heroes in Lee, In Jik's novels, their consciousness and action are all the same. They cry out for independence which was the national point at issue then, received new education and criticized the traditional culture. Its independence is insisted, at the same time, with the enlightment, which was impossible for coexistence. The enlightment and independence could never coexisted under the social situation at that time. The enlightment became dead-culture already and was recognized as the opposite notion of independence. Lee, In Jik's novels insist two propositions at the same time which can never be coexisted. It is very clear that one of the two propositions is disguised.
2. The characters in the novels cry out for independence only with their mouth. However, they can not practice by action for their persistence. The characters in Lee, In Jik's novels are expressed mostly passive human. The positive human who could struggle against imperialism were required at that time. Lee, In Jik's novels affirm tile thought of such social stratum. The thought of nationalists struggled against imperialism is not reflected or observed negatively in Lee, In Jik's novels.
3. Although the insistence of heroes in Lee, In Jik's novels accords with the racial perfection, their action differs from the racial perfection. Therefore, the theme of Lee, In Jik's novels can be arranged as follows : That is, it can not be observed but the external theme is "Independence," and the hidden theme is "Insistence of Betrayal of their country," or "Rationalization of Betrayal of their country."
4. Though Lee, In Jik's novels say independence externally, these show two-sided nature conflicting extremely that the Japanese imperialsim is not denied internally. The heroes in Lee, In Jik's novels show difference between their consciousness and action as such.
5. All new articles and living terms appeared in his works in order to bring our the external theme of his works. Such things can not be integrated at all into the theme, but only promote reader's sense of inferiority. On the contrary, these characters in his novels can not digest the newness of subject matter and can not make these their own thought. Lee, In Jik's works, on such meaning, could not eighter create rational enlightened man of real human.
6. The form of Lee, In Jik's novels is relatively modernistic compared with the old novels. However, though logic is orderly externally than the old novels, the internal logic of his works is inconsistent. Also, though the modern people are the subject matter, he could not understand the modern spirit and thought sincerely, and accordingly, he thought that premodern human image and also affirms so. In such meaning, Lee, In Jik's novels are more conservative that some old novels.
7. Lee, In Jik's novels can not cusseed better at all to modern nature of novels in the late period of Chosun el·a such as Yeonam's novels, "Chunhyang-Jeon", and "Heungbu-Jeon," etc. His novels step backward very much than this kind of novels in some meaning.
8. Since Lee, In Jik's works are disrupted individual ideal and racial ideal, his novels are disparated from the first from racial ideal when it is observed from the ideal side.
9. Lee, In Jik's novels have negative value in their themes, and only affirmative side shall be searched for formal aspect. Those points that these took subject matters in real life and the arrangement of events were unifired formerly relatively, etc. are thought to have acted a role of starting point of the modern novels.
