『眉巖日記』硏究 = (A) Study on the 『Mi-am Ilgi(眉巖日記)』

국문 초록 (Abstract)

『眉巖日記』(10冊)는 보물 제 260호로 문학적ㆍ역사적 가치 뿐만 아니라, 정치ㆍ사회ㆍ경제ㆍ사상ㆍ민속ㆍ어학적으로도 그 가치가 높이 평가된다. 그럼에도 불구하고 현재 『眉巖日記』에 대한 본격적인 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 뿐만 아니라 日記文學論이 대한 논의 또한 매우 미진한 상태이다. 그러므로 본고는 日記文學論 定立을 위하여 『眉巖日記』를 綜合的으로 고찰하였다.
각 章의 내용을 요약하여 보이면 다음과 같다.
序論에서는 연구목적 및 방향, 그리고 연구범위를 기술하였다. 특히 여기서는 『眉巖日記』의 연구의 필요성과 동양의 전통적 문학이론에 초점을 맞춘 日記文學의 이론 정립의 당위성을 강조하였다.
Ⅰ章에서는 日記의 올바른 이해와 실상 파악을 위해 동양의 전통적 시각에 초점을 맞추어 日記文學論의 가장 기본적인 문제인 日記의 명칭·정의ㆍ범위ㆍ종류 등을 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 주로 日記의 序ㆍ跋 또는 內容 등을 중심으로 日記文學論의 特性을 究明하여 日記文學論을 定立하였다.
Ⅱ章에서는 眉巖 柳希春의 生涯와 文學을 고찰하였다.
Ⅲ章에서는 문헌고증학적 방법을 통하여 『眉巖日記』의 書誌的 측면을 검토하였다.
Ⅳ章에서는 『眉巖日記』의 內容을 政事, 學問, 文學, 民俗, 科學, 身邊雜事 等의 節로 나누어 分析하였다. 이를 바탕으로 日記文學論을 적용시켜 『眉巖日記』의 日記文學的 特性을 기록의 철저성과 정확성·객관적 기술과 주관적 기술의 혼합·반복적 표현과 심경묘사 직유와 寫實的 묘사·체험의 事實性과 정서적 반응ㆍ文史哲의 유기적 결합ㆍ진솔한 자기고백과 인간미·권선징악으로에의 지향으로 밝히었다.
Ⅴ章에서는 Ⅳ章의 논의를 종합하여 『眉巖日記』의 문학사적 가치를 구명하였다. 그 결과, 『眉巖日記』는 당시의 일기들과는 달리 남다른 역사인식과 기록정신, 그리고 진솔한 자기고백을 통하여 개인적인 세계를 진실성있게 드러내어 문학적 감동을 주고 있다. 또 이같은 일기로서의 문학성 뿐만 아니라, 다양한 문학장르의 내용을 일기와 연관시켜 담고 있는 바, 그 문학적 가치가 매우 높은 일기임을 확인할 수 있었다.
結論에서는 이상의 논의를 종합하여 『眉巖日記』의 제반 양상과 특징, 그리고 문학사적 가치를 분명하게 밝혔다. 이는 다음과 같다.
『眉巖日記』는 진솔한 자기고백ㆍ간명한 표현과 심경묘사ㆍ진실구명ㆍ남다른 역사인식과 기록정신ㆍ권선징악으로에의 지향ㆍ유형적 제반 속성 내포 등 일기 문학으로서의 특성과 短歌(3首)ㆍ漢詩(70餘首)ㆍ文學論 및 詩ㆍ文에 대한 評ㆍ고전 소설 유통과정ㆍ일화와 야담ㆍ민속ㆍ연극 등 다양한 내용을 담고 있다. 그러므로『眉巖日記』는 壬亂 以前의 16世紀의 단편적인 일기들과 그 문학성이나 내용 등에서 차이를 보이고 있었다. 그 뿐만 아니라 전쟁일기 출현에 교량적 역할을 하였거나 간접적인 영향을 끼쳤던 것으로 보인다.
따라서 『眉巖日記』는 16世紀의 대표적 일기일 뿐만 아니라, 조선시대 개인 일기로도 質量面에서 높이 평가된다. 『眉巖日記』는 가히 우리나라 일기의 白眉라고 논단할 수 있겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The 『Mi-am Ilgi』 as the 260th National Treasure, is classified as historical material in the fields of politics, social and economic, literary, folk and linguistic history. In spite of the value of the 『Mi-am Ilgi』, we have scarcely studied comments on Ilgi literature as well as the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 on a full scale. So I systematically studied the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 with emphasis on the establishment of comments on Ilgi literature.
The contents of each chapter are as follows
The prefer gives an account of the purpose and scope of the study. Especially, emphasizing the need of the establishment of Ilgi literature with focus on the traditional comments on literature of the Orient and the necessity of further study.
In chapter Ⅰ, focuses on the traditional vision of the Oriental in order to grasp the understanding and the actual state of affairs of Ilgi, and also includes the name, the definition, the scope and the kind of Ilgi. Besides, centering around the preface, the epilogue and the contents of Ilgi. This study includes the characteristics of the comments on Ilgi literature.
In chapter Ⅱ, contains my studies on the life and literature of Yoo, Hee-Chun(柳希春) whose pen name is Mi-am(眉巖).
In chapter Ⅲ, contains the results of my studies on the bibliographic aspect of the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 through the historical investigation of the literature.
In chapter Ⅳ, contains an analysis of the contents of the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 by classifying them into political affairs, study, literature, folk, science, and so on. On the basis of this analysis, I studied the characteristics if Ilgi literature by applying the theory of Ilgi literature on completeness and accuracy of record, repetitive expression of object, and subjective statements, description of the frame of mind, experience of reality, emotional response, true self-confession, natural beauty of human, and promotion of virtue and reproval of vice.
In chapter Ⅴ, is an examination of the historical value of the 『Mi-am Ilgi』. As a result, the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 gave us a literary feeling by showing his own world through candid self-confession unlike the other works. In addition to its literary value as a Ilgi, it also covered various kinds of literary genre
In the conclusion, I clearly emphasize the literary value of the 『Mi-am Ilgi』, other aspects, and characteristics.
The outcomes are as follows:
The 『Mi-am Ilgi』 carries some characteristics of Ilgi literature such as true self-confession, precise expression, description of the frame of mind, and various kinds of literary contents such as historical tales, annecdotes, folk stories, and plays involving a kind of short poems and Chinese poems. So some differences between the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 and other Ilgi in 16th century appeared in their literary aspects and contents. Furthermore, the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 played a bridge role or had a indirect influence on the appearance of Ilgi during wars.
As a consequence, the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 was the representative of Ilgi in the 16th century, and is highly valued as a personal Ilgi of the Choson Dynasty. I firmly believe that the 『Mi-am Ilgi』 is the best among the Ilgi in Korea.
