Since 1960s, the view of social welfare was rapidly expanded in Korea and the project for the welfare of elderly was expanded in numbers. But the quality of service and the development of new program do not correspond to such expansion. This phenomenon must be considered with direct relation to duty of social worker at the front. When noticing that the quality of service produced by them is directly related with the degree of satisfaction at duty of them, a study on the satisfaction at duty of social worker is surely necessary.
The object of survey was the nationwide social worker working in community welfare for the elderly agency. The investigation period was from April 18, 1997 to April 30, 1997.
The SPSSWIN (SPSS package for windows) was used for statistical treatment such as the method of frequency, percentage, T-test, unitary cause analysis and correlation.
The result of study is summarized as follow.
It was noticed that the variable causes such as sex, married or not, religious or not, post, organization belonged and other causes such as duty, pay cut, pay, promotion, fellow, cognition of organization and change of occupation which are chosen as low level standard, are wholly correlated to determine the degree of satisfaction at duty. Total degree of satisfaction at duty in community welfare for the elderly agency was near to median level, 2.90.
The result of analysis of the correlation among variables is as follow.
When the proportion of the cognition of duty, director, pay, promotion, fellow and organization appears positive, then the rate of change of occupation appears low. But, when the former proportion of cognition appears negative, the rate of change of occupation appears high.
Therefore in order to increase the satisfaction at duty and to decrease the rate of change of occupation, the promotion must be guaranteed and the smooth relationship with master and fellows must be formed. The authorities, managers of organization and decision maker must take special care in order to guarantee the promotion for hard working worker, to present the bright future for them, to form a harmonious relationship among director and fellows.
