This thesis is a diachronic study on the derived causative verbs in Korean. Namely, it is a study on a synchronic derivation rule of causative verb form the 15th to 20th century Korean by each century, and on the change of derivation rule of causative verb, and on the historical change of derived causative verbs.
These are the summary of the results.
[1] The derived causative verbs have to be morphologically a combined form of causative suffix '-이-, -히-, -리-, -기-, -오/우-, -호/후(추)-, -고/구-' on a root of declinable word. And syntactically, have to keep the case form, and semantically, can't be separated from the main verb or main causative verb.
[2] We have seen that causative suffix that derive the causative verb, appears to be various kinds of allomorph according to the final phoneme of root. And we have clarified the combined condition of derived causative verbs in each century, on which condition these allomorph got chosen.
[3] We made a rule on each century's derivation from causative verbs in the grounding of it's condition by each century. And We looked into these rules of derivation from the causative verbs have changed diachronically.
First, set up the basic allomorph of causative suffix occured as '- 이 -, -히-, -리-, -기-, -오/우-, -호/후(추)-, -고/구-' to be '-이-', and regularized on what rules each allomorph causative suffix having been guided in here.
We divided the type of these rules that have changed historically to the changed types and unchanged types on a large scale and explained the reason on the view of 'firming up of a causative expression' and 'the pursuit of stability in morph'.
We expected the type that causative expression nile hadn't changed is stable morphologically, and doesn't need other elements to firm up the causative expression, so these type is used continually.
The most characteristic of the changed type is that'-이-' or '-오/우-', especially '-이-' have replaced to '-히-' or '-리-'. That is, to disperse the functional load that causative suffix has to other causative suffix like'-히-' or '-리-' There were lots of causative verbs combined with causative suffix '-리-' that could be said almost absolute, in the 15th century Korean. But in the 20th century Korean, we have made confirmation that the main verb and ' ㅂ -irregular declinable word' which have /ㄺ/ as a final phoneme of root had come to combine the causative suffix. '히-' and 'ㄷ-irregular declinable word' and the declinable word which has final phoneme of root /ㄹ/ or /ㅀ/ had changed the combination of causative suffix to'-리-'.
We have made an explanation on the reason to have changed in this form, on the point of view that 'firming up of a causative expression'. That is, on the purpose to get causative expression to be recognize move powerfully by firming up the acoustique impression, the change in aspirate or change to the combination of /ㄹㄹ/ form by /ㄹ/ sound addition are notable especially.
(4) Until now, we presented change form of each causative verbs in each century for the subject of study in a divided form of 'first, causative verbs which don't have changes in the morph, second, causative verbs which have changes in the morph (one which have change in only morph of final phoneme of root, or causative suffix, and the one which change in both final phoneme of root and causative suffix), third, causative verbs that has lost its quality (lexicalized, change in a syntacical way, extinction of main verbs), fourth, type of the generated causative verbs'.
And we explained the change of derivation rule. Name, type that the combination isn't regular morphologically is trying to change into regular combination form, and it is called as 'the pursuit of stability in morph'. We have seen that if the attempt like this failure In derivation rule because of other elements like collision homonymique of passive verb or other transitive verb, they make change in different method that is syntactical method.
Also we have seen that the changes in derivation rule of causative verb are mainly in the purpose of strengthening the causative expression and even through they can't follow these changes there are cases that the causative verbs change or vanish in different way.
