The purpose of this study is aimed at finding the effects of the RET group counseling on academic self-concept, and test anxiety. To achieve this purpose, the following hypotheses are examined:
First, the RET group counseling will decrease the level of test anxiety.
Second, the RET group counseling will enhance the level of positive academic self-concept.
Third, the RET group counseling and action program simultaneously will decrease the level of test anxiety, and will enhance the level of positive academic self-concept.
30 girl students of sixty grade elementary school who voluneed to participate in the program were devide into two experimental groups(group I, II), and one control group (group III). The RET group counseling was given to group I. and both the RET group counseling and action program simultaneously was given to group II. The program was given six sessions twice a week and the period of one session was 90 minutes - total 9 hours.
Test anxiety scale was adapted from Lee Dong Kil, and academic self-concept was adapted from by Bak Gyeong Sook and Lee Hyesun.
Pre-test was administered before pasticipating in the program and post test was given them after a week from completing the program. All data were analysed using T verification and F verification to test significance of the effects.
The results of this study were as follows;
First, the RET group counseling shows a meaningful effect on the reduction of the test anxiety.
Second, the RET group counseling shows a meaningful effect on enhancing the positive academic self-concept.
Third, the RET group counseling and action program shows a meaningless effect of interaction.
