궁통보감의 用神調候論과 窮通中和의 생태주의적 지평 = Qiongtongbogan's Yongshen-zhouhu Doctrine and an Ecologismic Horizon of Qiongtong-zhonghe

This paper begins with how Minglixue can be embraced as a cultural phenomenon in modern society. The methodology of approaching the theory of Minglixue is crucial in this context. Methodology refers to the dynamic mechanism of Yongshen (用神), which organically structures the framework of the Four Pillars and the skeletal structure of the Eight Characters. The systematic approach to Yongshin is applied to one of representative theoretical books, Qiongtongbaojian(窮通寶鑑). The theoretical system is characterized as a conception of Zhouhu. Through the application of Yongshen, it is said to make an ecological logic.
What is called Yongshen operates according to the category of Yin-Yang and utilizes the relational system of the five phases(五行). The method of Yongshen utilizes the category of Yin-Yang and the relational system of the five phases to optimally operate the framework of a destiny chart, particularly the structure of Mingli. The category of Yin-Yang can be characterized by a relational dynamic of opposition and unity. The relational system of the five phases is characterized by the cyclical processes of mutual support(相生) and mutual suppression. Such optimal operation can be understood in the context of Zhongheism(中和主義), related to the issues of the nature of Zhonghe(中和). Therefore, the argument of Zhongheism regarding the Yongshen can be said to be a pathway to understanding the organic structure of Mingli and its integrative operation.
The approach to zhongheism serves as an important foundation for the interpretation of destiny in the discourse of understanding. The interpretation of divination is the task of correctly predicting and accurately judging the issues of fortune and misfortune while weaving the storytelling of life within the compatibility of fate(命) and destiny(運). By organically connecting a process of life, events, and the characteristics of individuals along the continuum of past, present, and future, we create the overall flow of life’s journey.
Minglixue is a product of profound insights into individual destiny for a circle of life. It is rooted in the basis of Yin-Yang and the Five Phases. In particular, the theoretical system of Qiongtongbaojian serves as a methodological tool for the understanding of Mingli. Furthermore, it provides a path to the compatibility of destiny through the relational system of the Five Phases based on the categories of Yin-Yang. In this respect, this paper presents a certain point to the Zhou-hu doctrine of describing dynamic changes of life through the harmony of the Five Phases from a climatic perspective.
