한국 창작뮤지컬 시맨틱 아카이브 모델 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 국내 창작뮤지컬을 대상으로 한 시맨틱 아카이브 모델을 제시하여 창작뮤지컬 공연에 참여하는 주체와 작품 요소들 간의 복잡한 상호작용을 이해하고, 뮤지컬 작품의 창작 배경, 인적 맥락, 작품의 재생산 과정 등을 살펴볼 수 있는 다양한 지식 정보와 관계망을 드러내고자 하였다. 이에 온라인 및 오프라인 기록물을 통해 19건의 창작뮤지컬 작품 관련 데이터를 수집하고, 온톨로지를 설계·검증하였으며, 시맨틱 데이터를 구축하고 활용 방안을 제시하였다.

한국 창작뮤지컬 시맨틱 아카이브 모델 설계를 위해 첫째, 한국 뮤지컬과 공연예술분야의 기존 연구 사례들을 검토하고 국내외 선행 디지털 아카이브의 데이터 구조를 확인하였다. 국내 공연예술 디지털 아카이브로는 ‘더 뮤지컬’과 ‘공연예술통합전산망(KOPIS)’, ‘DA-arts’, ‘별별스테이지’, ‘국립극단 디지털 아카이브’, ‘남산예술센터 디지털 아카이브’를, 해외 선행 사례로는 호주의 ‘오스테이지(AusStage)’와 노르웨이 오슬로 대학의 ‘입센 아카이브(Ibsen Archive)’, ‘링크드 재즈(Linked Jazz)’를 검토하고 창작뮤지컬의 특성을 반영하는 새로운 아카이브 모델 구축의 필요성을 확인하였다. 구체적인 설계전략으로 ⑴음악 관련 요소를 추가하고, ⑵작품과 공연의 관계로 대표되는 ‘추상적 개념(집합체)-실체적 개념(개별 사례)’의 구조를 반영하며, ⑶원천 콘텐츠 정보를 활용한 지식 관계망 확장을 모색하였다.

둘째, 창작뮤지컬 공연과 참여자 정보 그리고 작품 요소에 관한 데이터를 수집하고 이를 바탕으로 아카이브의 뼈대가 되는 온톨로지를 설계하였다. 행위자(Actor), 공연(Performance), 등장인물(Character), 작품(Work), 공연장(Theater), 시상식(Awards), 지원사업(IncuProg)의 7개 클래스를 중심으로 설계된 온톨로지 모델에 기반하여 시맨틱 데이터를 구축하고 네 가지 관점으로 데이터를 주목할 수 있는 시맨틱 모델(공연 모델, 작품 모델, 참여 모델, 수상 모델)을 제시하였다.

셋째, 한국 창작뮤지컬 시맨틱 아카이브를 통해 발굴할 수 있는 두 가지 이야기의 사례를 소개하였다. 뮤지컬 연출가 ‘왕용범’을 중심으로 한 공연 제작 협업 관계와 뮤지컬 <라흐헤스트>의 사례로 주목한 창작 작품 개발에 관한 이야기를 네트워크로 표현함으로써 추후 사용자들에 의해 창작뮤지컬 디지털 큐레이션이 활용될 잠재적 양상을 살펴보았다.

본 연구는 한국 창작뮤지컬에 특화된 시맨틱 아카이브 모델을 제시함으로써, 기존 공연예술 디지털 아카이브의 독립성과 비연계성으로 비롯된 한계를 극복하고자 하였다. 온톨로지를 통해 창작뮤지컬을 구성하는 요소들을 구조화하고, 이들 간의 관계를 명확히 정의한 후 시맨틱 데이터베이스로 구축함으로써 디지털 환경에서 정보를 제공하는 데에 그치지 않고 자료 사이의 맥락을 드러낼 수 있는 새로운 모델을 제시하였다. 또한 연구 과정에서 그동안 체계적으로 정리되지 않았던 창작뮤지컬 ‘작품’ 목록을 정보화하고 위키 저장소를 통해 공개하여 관련 분야의 연구자와 창작자를 비롯한 이용자들에게 도움을 줄 수 있는 기초 자료를 제공하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this dissertation is to present a semantic archive model for Korean original creative musicals, which helps a better understanding of the complex interactions among participants and elements of musical performances. The model is designed to elucidate the relationships and diverse knowledge regarding the background of musical creation, the context of human interactions, and the reproduction process of musical works. To achieve this, semantic data is constructed along with its corresponding manuals. The data includes 19 Korean original musicals collected through online and offline records, and its ontology has been validated.

To design a semantic archive model for Korean original musicals, the study first reviews existing research in the fields of Korean musicals and performing arts, and examines the data structures of domestic and international digital archives. My investigation of various digital archives for performing arts reveals the need for a new archive model that reflects the unique characteristics of original creative musicals. The reviewed archives include the following: 'The Musical', 'KOPIS', 'DA-Arts', 'Byeolbyeol Stage', 'National Theater Company Digital Archive', 'Namsan Arts Center Digital Archive', Australia's 'AusStage', the University of Oslo's 'Ibsen Archive', and 'Linked Jazz'. The strategies for the new archiving model are as follows: ⑴ incorporating music-related information, ⑵ recognizing both abstract and concrete concepts represented by works and performances, and ⑶ expanding the knowledge network by using original information sources.

Secondly, data on performance, participants and elements of original musicals are collected to design the ontology that forms the backbone of the archive. Based on the ontology model, semantic data is constructed, and Four semantic models (Performance model, Work model, Participant model, Award model) are proposed, allowing data to be viewed from different perspectives.

Thirdly, the research presents two case studies that are examined using my original semantic data for Korean musicals. These include the collaboration relationships in musical production centered around the director 'Wang Yongbeom' and the development story of the original musical <L'art reste>, expressed through a network graph. This demonstrates the potential application of digital curation of original musicals by users.

This study aims to overcome the limitations of the independence and disconnection of existing performing arts digital archives by presenting a semantic archive model specialized for Korean original creative musicals. The model structures the organization of elements constituting Korean musicals and clarifies the definitions of their relationships using ontology. Consequently, it not only provides information in a digital environment but also reveals the contextual relationships between the data. Additionally, the study has systematically organized and digitized the previously unorganized list of Korean original creative musical 'works' and made it available through a online repository(Wiki, OSF), providing fundamental resources to researchers, creators and other users in related fields.
