The purpose of this study is to investigate the degree of social participation in middle-aged women, examine the relationship between middle-aged women's social participation and self-efficacy, and how clothing behavior affects self-efficacy. The contents of the study to find out the purpose of this study are as follows.
First, the self-efficacy of middle-aged women will affect social participation. Second, middle-aged women's clothing behavior will affect their self-efficacy. Third, it examines which factors affect each other among the sub-factors of clothing behavior and self-efficacy of middle-aged women. Fourth, it examines which factors affect each other between the sub-factors of self-efficacy of middle-aged women and the sub-factors of social participation. Fifth, by analyzing the correlation between middle-aged women's clothing behavior, self-efficacy, and social participation, it is intended to suggest a direction to increase life satisfaction in reconstructing the meaning of middle-aged women's life transition. As a research method, literature and empirical studies were conducted on the self-efficacy, clothing behavior, and social participation of middle-aged women. Through literature research, domestic and foreign literature and prior studies on the characteristics of middle-aged women, self-efficacy of middle-aged women, clothing behavior of middle-aged women, and social participation of middle-aged women were examined. A questionnaire on the main contents of self-efficacy, social participation, clothing behavior, and self-efficacy was prepared, focusing on domestic and international research papers and literature, and a survey was conducted for women aged 40 to 60 from September 28 to October 8, 2023. Data were analyzed using the statistical analysis program IBM SPSS 27, and frequency analysis, factor analysis, regression analysis, t-test, variance analysis, and descriptive statistics were performed.
As a result of the study, the difference in self-efficacy according to demographic and sociological characteristics showed a significant difference in self-efficacy according to the final academic ability, showing the highest self-efficacy of the doctoral graduation group. It was followed by professional, other, self-employed, and unemployed. There was no significant difference between demographic characteristics and clothing behavior. The difference in social participation according to demographic and sociological characteristics showed a significant difference in social participation according to final education, with the master's group showing the highest, followed by the doctoral graduation group, the high school group, the four-year graduation group, and the two-year graduation group. Second, as a result of analyzing the effect of middle-aged women's self-efficacy and clothing behavior on social participation, it was found that office workers and professionals among jobs had an effect on self-efficacy, and self-employment and others had no significant effect.
Third, self-efficacy, job, marital status, and final education were found to have a significant effect on social participation, and among them, it was found to have a relatively high effect on self-efficacy. Fourth, as a result of a correlation analysis to understand the relative influence of social participation by clothing behavior factors by self-efficacy factor, the correlation between self-regulation efficacy and economic performance among the sub-factors of clothing behavior was found to have the highest effect. Social self-efficacy, a sub-factor of self-efficacy, showed a significant effect on the coordination and convenience of clothing behavior. The relationship between economic feasibility and self-regulatory efficacy has been shown to enhance self-regulatory efficacy through a series of actions, regardless of fashion among middle-aged women's clothing behaviors, choosing unique designs in their own style, and making long-term plans for clothing purchases. (Lim Kyung-bok, 2014). One of the other characteristics, co-movement and convenience, was found to be less social self-efficacy in the group that pursues clothes that are comfortable to wear and activities, and plain clothes that are not different from others. If we provide education and information to select, purchase, and wear clothes that fit each person's personality through image consulting education for middle-aged women who only pursue simple clothes, we can increase self-efficacy through more active clothing behavior, and this self-efficacy can actively participate in society, and increased social participation can help improve the quality of life of middle-aged women.
