This study used the young generation, the MZ generation, and web fiction, of which the MZ generation is the main consumer group, as the research object, and revealed the characteristics of the MZ generation's consumption of web fiction. The MZ generation is a young generation that is sensitive to the trends of the times and exchanges information quickly. They are Korea's core economically active population and the future generation that will lead Korea in the future. And web fiction are cultural content that continues to grow based on the platformization of genre fiction. This study is based on traditional research methods that conduct research by analyzing and evaluating existing literature. Therefore, we first reveal the meaning of cultural content consumption through a philosophical approach. Then, the MZ generation is defined based on the intergenerational discourse, and the characteristics of the MZ generation are revealed. Although this method may reflect the researcher's original opinion, it is also a method that is prone to significant subjective judgment. Therefore, we will understand web fiction based on genre novels and light novels that influenced web fiction, and discuss the consumption method of web fiction by focusing on tags(~물), one of the main characteristics of web fiction. In addition, we aim to supplement the subjective part of the study through surveys and interviews with members of the MZ generation who like web fiction. Intergenerational discourse understands the concept of generation from a subjectivist perspective and approaches generation as a discursive entity rather than an objective entity. Therefore, the position is that generations do not always exist independently, but are formed in mutual relationships with other generations. Therefore, this paper presents the BX generation as a different generation from the MZ generation and reveals the characteristics of the MZ generation. And then, we look at the current
status and characteristics of Korean web fiction. In particular, we will understand the characteristics of web fiction by focusing on tags(~물), a genre-related concept that appears in web fiction. To borrow from the perspective of database consumption theory along with Kojève's discussion, tags(~물) show how those who consume web fiction can satisfy their desires, that is, what content suits their inclinations. Instruct. Therefore, focusing on tags(~물), we shed light on the world awareness and needs revealed by the MZ generation through their consumption of web fiction. In this respect, the MZ generation's needs for consuming web novels that appear in today's tags(~물) are constant achievements through comparative advantage. This can be said to be a reaction against the cynicism toward success-oriented secular abstinence and the resulting lethargy. In other words, the MZ generation, which systematized the deficiency-satisfaction structure through the consumption of web novels, was able to maintain a nihilistic and pessimistic attitude toward an unachievable reality.
