This paper analyzed the location of Feng Shui in Otgol (옻골) and Myogol (묘골) villages, where the proportion of talents is found higher than other traditional villages located in Daegu City. This study will look into the five formulas of the topological pattern (地理 五訣) that are hidden in the landscape, which are dragon (龍, mountains), cave (穴, energy gathering), sand (砂, hills and buildings), water (水, rivers and streams) and orientation (坐向, view and direction); and examine the good or ill luck they will bring one by one. Particularly, the crescent-shaped (蛾眉形) table mountain (안산) in front of the village is a valuable mountain that is believed to bring wealth and have a great influence on the villagers. One of the Feng Shui Classics - “Notes to the Benevolent”(仁者須知) mentioned that, as many other ancient books have stated also, "mountain governs people"(山管人丁). It is believed and predicted that many elitists will come from this village as there is a valuable crescent-shaped table mountain nearby the village. The wate of the Nakdonggang River, which flows around the foot of Baekho Mountain on the right side of the village, known as invisible water (暗拱水) in plasma and brings the village's vitality again. And this advantageous water condition makes the village always full of life. Furthermore, the village is surrounded by mountains on all sides, which looks like the village is sitting in the middle of a curved bowl. This is the best location (known as a cave) in terms of the four forms (四象), where symbolize wealth and property in Feng Shui. Besides, the village has 3 key elements of Feng Shui: mountains at the back and water at the front (背山臨水), with a ground low at the front and ascending to the back (前低後高), front narrow and back wide (前窄後寬), which make it a good place for the mansions, and brings fortune to the villagers. Meanwhile, Park Doo-eul (박두을), the owner of the Samsung family in the middle of the village, is a rare rich farmer who has reclaimed thousands of properties. In addition, Otgol (옻골) Village is a cozy place surrounded by mountains on three sides, but unlike Myogol (묘골), there is no table mountain (안산) that covers the front of the village. In order to compensate the emptiness (虛), a dam was built in the front of the village and zelkova trees were also planted there as tp compensate through Feng-shui Bibo method (裨補). Therefore, building a dam is a method that kills two birds with one stone, which prevents the bad energy from coming from the front and also keeps the vitality energy of water from preventing water from flowing out of the village directly. Furthermore, there is a tortoise rock called Saengguam (生龜岩) on Daeam Peak (대암봉) in the main mountain behind the village, which has been considered sacred by ancestors as an animal that brings long life and blessings. Believing that the tortoise was the guardian of the village, the villagers dug an artificial reservoir in front of the village to prevent the tortoise from leaving the village. This reservoir is crucial in geomancy that it collects water flowing from both sides of the village and slowly flows to the right to bring vitality to the village. As such, Myogol(묘골) Village is a Feng Shui land given by nature from the beginning, whereas Otgol (옻골) Village, with compensation that the reservoir brought, is also a Feng Shui land full of vitality. Both villages are south-facing with mountains at the back and water at the front (背山臨水), and the villagers in this auspicious land have been prosperous since the early days. In Korea, due to the characteristics of the monsoon, south-facing lands are under favorable conditions. Based on that reasoning, scholars have preferred houses facing south since ancient times. As a result, both traditional villages have been maintained for more than 400 years since the first villager (입향조), and have continued their reputation to this day. These villages, with the born-to-be Confucian spirit and a thorough sense of responsibility to protect the family, produced a lot of elitists and gained a considerable amount of wealth. However, the good fortunes could not be drawn only by the villagers’ own strong spirits and a sense of mission. During the Joseon Dynasty, Feng Shui has been popular and that is why to believe that drawing blessings and good fortunes through Feng Shui is possible as it has been put in everyday life since then. This is because the aristocratic class family naturally put Feng Shui into daily life by receiving ancestral rites and respecting their seniors according to the laws of the Confucian family of the Joseon Dynasty.
