Social capital is the sum of resources or capabilities mobilized through a social network as capital. The Social Capital Theory has become an essential point of view in analyzing theories in various fields, including sociology, economics, and politics. Studying the structure, location, and intensity of human relationships can better interpret social phenomena in social capital. The concept of social capital is a variant of capital in economics, which has a productive function like any other form of capital. At the same time, differences exist between different capital because it has a not directly observable characteristic.
This study aims to explore the relationship between social capital and the financial status of households. Analyzing the relationship between financial status consisting of objective financial ratios and social capital is necessary to achieve household financial goals and establish stability. However, few studies specifically identify households' social capital, and there is a lack of studies to understand the relationship between detailed financial soundness and financial ratios. Therefore, the study aims to provide implications for Korean households' financial goals and financial planning by exploring the characteristics of Korean households' social capital and their financial status.
