    (abstract)
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for enhancing the career decision self-efficacy in adolescents by verifying the dual mediating effect of gratitude and self-esteem in the relationship between depression and career decision-making self-efficacy.
The data were collected from high school students in H and Y county in Chungcheongnam-do and surveyed for a month in May 2020. The total number of subjects used for analysis was 241. SPSS PC+ ver.25.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro 3.5 were used for data analysis, and statistical analysis was frequency analysis, reliability analysis, and independent sample t-test and One-way ANOVA, which is an average comparison analysis. Also, correlation analysis between each variable and mediation effect analysis using bootstrap were used. Bootstrap was used to verify the simple mediation and double mediation effects. When verifying, the number of bootstrap samples was set to 5,000, and the confidence interval was set to 95%.
The conclusion of the study is as follows.
First, depression was higher in the middle and low groups of the economic level than in the high group, and career decision self-efficacy was higher in the middle and low groups. There was no significant difference in the gratitude as a mediating variable according to gender and economic level, and the self-esteem was higher in the group of “higher” than in the group of “middle”.
Second, depression had a negative correlation with gratitude, self-esteem and career decision self-efficacy, and gratitude had a positive relationship with self-esteem and career decision self-efficacy, respectively. In particular, there was a high correlation between self-esteem and depression.
Third, gratitude mediated in the relationship between depression and career decision self-efficacy.
Fourth, self-esteem played a role in mediating in the relationship between depression and career decision self-efficacy.
Fifth, as a result of analyzing whether gratitude and self-esteem mediate in the relationship between depression and career decision self-efficacy, it showed that there was a dual mediating effect of gratitude and self-esteem between depression and career decision self-efficacy.
Through these results, it is necessary to conduct further research not only for high school students, but also for the entire youth group. In addition, further research on a specific intervention method that can enhance the mediating variable and sub-factors of the mediating variable are needed, so research on designing an empirical program that can confirm the moderating effect should follow
