The purpose of this study was to empirically verify the mediating effect of flow and the moderating effect of presence in relation to the impact of Virtual Reality-Based Hands-on Job Training on learning transfer for semiconductor facility technology engineers
Based on such research aims, this study raises the following research questions.
First, does Virtual reality media characteristics have a significant effect on learning transfer in Virtual Reality-Based Hands-on Job Training? Second, dose flow in Virtual Reality-Based Hands-on Job Training a mediating role in the relationship between Virtual reality media characteristics and learning transfer? Third, does presence Virtual Reality-Based Hands-on Job Training have a moderating effect on the relationship between Virtual reality media characteristics and learning flow? Fourth, does the effect of Virtual reality media characteristics on learning transfer by flow Virtual Reality-Based Hands-on Job Training represent a controlled mediating effect that is adjusted according to presence?
To verify this research questionnaire, we surveyed 106 face-to-face sales persons who work for domestic companies from May 26 to June 5, 2020. The data was analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. The findings are as follows.
First, it was found that the Virtual Reality media characteristic, which is an independent variable, had a static effect on learning transfer, which is a dependent variable. Second, Virtual Reality media characteristics, which are independent variables, were found to have a static effect on flow, which is a mediating variable. Third, flow, a mediating variable, was found to have a positive effect on learning transfer, a dependent variable. Fourth, in the relationship between Virtual Reality media characteristics and flow, presence was found to have a moderating effect. Fifth, in the effect of Virtual Reality media characteristics on the behavior of innovation by mediating flow, presence was found to have a controlled mediating effect.
Based on these findings, the following academic implications can be concluded. First, the external validity was expanded by verifying the effect of Virtual Reality media characteristics on learning transfer. If the existing prior studies were limited to students, or studied without distinction of job title or organization, the scope of prior studies was expanded by verifying subjects working in practice.
Second, it was empirically verified that the flow influence mediates the static effect of Virtual Reality media characteristics on learning transfer. The results of this study verified the importance of the expression structure to increase the level of immersion in the process of Virtual Reality media characteristics being expressed as learning transfer. Therefore, job education pedagogy developers should continue to search for various ways to increase their Virtual Reality media characteristics to engage in learning.
Third, while verifying the effect of presence, which enhances Virtual Reality media characteristics and flow, at the same time, the moderating effect of presence was examined from the static effect of Virtual Reality media characteristics on learning transfer through mediation. This suggests that it is necessary to expand the medium with Mixed Reality to improve the sense of presence in order to improve the presence of reality.
