The purpose of this study was to examine the double mediating
effect of counselor activity self-efficacy and counselor awareness
developmental level in relation to working alliance. The subjects of
the study were a questionnaire survey of 305 counselors working at
the Student Counseling Center and Private Counseling Center located
in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi. The subjects of the study were
limited to cases where the client was 14 years of age or older and
had more than 5 cases. For data analysis, SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0
were used to analyze the data.
The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, as a
result of analyzing the correlations among variables, counselor flow,
counselor activity self-efficacy, counselor awareness development
level, and working alliance were all positively related. Second, as a
result of analyzing the mediating effect of counselor activity
self-efficacy, the counselor flow directly affects working alliance and
indirectly affects counselor activity self-efficacy. Third, as a result of
analyzing the mediating effect of counselor awareness development
level, the counselor awareness development level had an indirect
effect in the relationship between counselor flow and working alliance.
Finally, the counselor activity self-efficacy and counselor awareness
development level had a double mediating effect on the relationship
between counselor flow and working alliance. In other words, The
higher the counselor flow, the higher the counselor activity
self-efficacy, which in turn increases the counselor awareness
development level and has a positive effect on forming a working
alliance. The purpose of this study is to empirically test the counselor
flow and to verify its effectiveness as a variable that can help to
strengthen the counselor's capacity and form a relationship with the
client. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and
suggestions in subsequent studies were discussed.
