The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the effective guiding type of adult ballet which can improve the intrinsic motivation and willingness to participate by investigating the influence of the type of leadership behavior perceived by adult female ballet participants.
To achieve this purpose, a total of 350 adult women participating in adult ballet lessons in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do were surveyed, and of these, a total of 305 survey results were used for the final analysis, except for 45 cases in which the survey was partially omitted, duplicated, or inadequate. The questionnaires used in this study consisted of 5 items of personal characteristics, 18 items of guiding behavior, 18 items of intrinsic motivation, and 5 items of willingness to participate. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 statistical computer programs. For accurate analysis, various statistical techniques such as descriptive statistical analysis, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's multiple range test, correlation analysis, and structural equation model analysis were utilized. The following is the conclusions drawn by this study based on the above methodology.
First, in terms of instructional behaviors of the instructor, there is a significant difference in positive reward behaviors according to the educational background of participants and a distinct difference in training and instructional behaviors and democratic behaviors according to the career of ballet of participants. On the other hand, there is no difference in age, participation frequency, and participation time of participants.
In terms of intrinsic motivation, there is a significant difference in interest according to age and ballet career of participants, and there is a clear difference in interest and effort depending on the frequency of participation. Also, there is a distinct difference in interest and ability according to participation time of participants. However, there is no difference in intrinsic motivation according to the educational background of participants.
From the perspectives of willingness to participate, there is a significant difference in the ballet career, participation frequency, and participation time, whereas there is no difference according to the educational background and age of participants.
Second, from the viewpoint of the influence of teacher's guiding behavior type on intrinsic motivation, training and instruction behavior type, authoritarian behavior type, and social behavior type have a positive effect on intrinsic motivation whereas democratic behavior type has a negative influence on intrinsic motivation such as competence, and tension factors. This implies that the internal motivation of the participants increases as the participants perceive higher levels of training and instructional behavior type, authoritative behavior type, social behavior type and a lower level of democratic behavioral style.
Third, the type of guiding behavior did not influence persistent commitment. There is a limit to the participation of the participants by the leader 's guiding action because the adults tend to learn by voluntarily choosing the learning and motivated by their needs.
Fourth, interest in intrinsic motivation have a positive effect on participants' continuous willingness to participate. This implies that the higher interests of the participants lead to a commitment to continuous participation
Fifth, as a result of verifying the mediating effect of intrinsic motivation on the relationship between the type of guiding behavior and persistent intention to participate, the intrinsic motivation is found to be mediated completely. In other words, it can be seen that the type of guiding behaviors of the teacher increases the intrinsic motivation of participants, and as the intrinsic motivation of participants increases, the willingness to participate increases continuously.
As a result, it is concluded that the type of leadership behaviors perceived by the female ballet participants affects intrinsic motivation and willingness to participate continuously. Based on this conclusion, it is possible to establish an orientation point of the adult ballet teaching method. It is necessary to lead the class through the systematic and analytical guiding type of behavior that can induce the intrinsic motivation of the adult ballet participants and to study continuously so as to lead their continuous participation.
