A Study on the Relationship between
Tarot and Sinsal of Sajumyeongrihak
(Focused on Image Symbol)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship
between Tarot and the Sinsal of Sajumyeongrihak. Tarot is a
medium that responds to the intuition and will of the user,
and helps to express the unconscious form in concrete
meaning.
As industrialization and urbanization rapidly progressed and
life became more complicated and unpredictable, the demand
for the future prediction science is increasing more and more
as time goes by. Due to this social atmosphere, the number of
portal sites that have the fortune-telling corner is increasing,
and related sections are getting popular in the Internet
version of newspapers and broadcasting companies so that
visitors can see fortune-telling.
In modern society, individualism is spreading due to the
influence of industrialization and the nuclear family. It is one of
the characteristics of modern society that more and more
consultations are requested to psychiatrists and psychological
counselors rather than discussing their mental anxiety with the
also expanding to all ages from the young to the elder.
The objective of this study is to make more accurate and
wide interpretation by combining Tarot and Sinsal of
Sajumyeongrihak in order to find ways for clients and
consultants to trust each other and form consensus in Tarot
consultations.
For a long time, on-site counsellors have utilized various
predictive theories that complement each other's strengths in
order to increase the abundance and hit rates of counseling,
and the author focused on this as well.
In this study, I tried to find the similarity by analyzing the
relationship between the symbols of the Tarot cards and
Sinsal of Sajumyeongrihak. Classification of Cheonelguyin(天乙
貴人), Munchangguyin(文昌貴人), Banan(攀鞍), Geyeourog(金輿
祿), and Yeougma(驛馬), as the kind of Gilsinryu(吉神類) and
that of Baghodaesal(白虎大殺), Goygangsal(魁罡殺), Geobsal(劫
殺), Mangsinsal(亡身殺), Guymungoansal(鬼門關殺), as the kind
of Hyungsalryu(凶殺類) are intensively discussed.
Sinsals, which were classified as Gilshinryu and
Hyungsinryu, were presented as a basis for the
interrelationship of symbolic meanings with respect to Major
Tarot cards: The Fool, II. The High Priestess, III. The
Empress, reverse of IV. The King, VI. The Lover, VII. The
Wheel, IX. The Hermit, X. The Wheel of Fortune, reverse of
XI. Justice, XV. The Devil, XVI. The Tower, XVII. The Star,
XXI. The World and Minor Tarot cards: reverse of Knight of
Pentacles, I. Ace of Pentacles, IX. Nine of Pentacles, Queen of
Wands, Knight of Wands, IX. Nine of Wands, VI. Six of
Wands, V. Five of Wands, reverse of King of Swords, Queen
of Swords, Knight of Swords, reverse of Page of Swords, IX.
Nine of Swords, VII. Seven of Swords, reverse of Queen of
Cups, Knight of Cups, Two of Cups.
Moreover, examination on the correlation between 10 Sinsals
that have been classified as Gilshinryu and Hyungsinryu, and
Tarot cards that contain many symbols of neoclassical death,
such as the Major 0 (The Fool) card are described. In
particular, through actual counseling, I tried to prove whether
Tarot cards with symbols such as certain Sinsal are selected
in the process of the fortune-telling when clients have certain
Sinsal in Sajuwongug.
Through this study, I hope that the meaning of tarot will
not only become a kind of fortune-telling from the West, but a
meaningful result proving that there is a deep link with the
Sajumyeongrihak. Especially, I would like to continue to study
the correlation between the Sajumyeongrihak and Tarot card
in the future and hope to be useful in the field of counseling.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

타로(Tarot)와 사주명리학
신살(神殺)의 상관 고찰
(이미지적 상징을 중심으로)

본 연구는 미래예측 상담현장에서 타로카드와 사주명리학(四柱命理學)
신살(神殺)의 병용(倂用)여부에 관한 연구이다. 타로 점은 사용자의 직관
과 의지에 반응하며, 무의식적인 형태가 구체적인 의미로 표현될 수 있도
록 도와주는 매개체이다.
최근 산업화와 도시화가 급속히 진행되고 삶이 더 복잡해짐에 따라 예
측이 불가능하게 되자 미래에 대한 불안이 증대되면서 오히려 미래예측학
(未來豫測學)의 수요는 시간이 갈수록 증가하는 추세에 있다. 이러한 사
회 분위기로 인해 운세코너를 설치하는 포털사이트가 폭증하는 추세이며,
신문사나 방송사의 인터넷 판에서도 방문자들이 운세를 볼 수 있도록 관
련 코너가 인기를 끌고 있다.
현대사회는 산업화와 핵가족화의 영향으로 개인주의가 팽배해지고 있
다. 이런 원인으로 인해 자신의 정서적 불안감을 주변 사람들과 터놓고
의논하기보다는 정신과 의사나 심리상담사들에게 상담을 의뢰하는 경우가
늘어나고 있는 것도 현대사회의 특징 중 하나이다. 상담을 의뢰하는 연령
층도 초·중·고생들부터 노년층에 이르기까지 전 연령층으로 확대되고 있
는 실정이다. 또한 미래에 대한 고민이나 선택에 대한 갈등도 주변에서
쉽게 접할 수 있는 타로 상담을 통해 해결하려는 경향도 점차 많아지고
있다.
본 연구의 목적은 타로 상담에 있어서 내담자와 상담자가 서로 신뢰하
고 공감대가 형성될 수 있는 방안의 하나로서 타로와 사주의 병용 가능여
부를 분석하여 확인하는데 있다. 특히 타로와 사주명리학의 신살을 병용
하여 더욱 정확하고 폭넓은 타로 해석을 가능하도록 하기 위한 것이 본
연구의 목적이다.
오래전부터 운명예측 상담현장에서는 상담내용의 풍부함과 적중률을 높
이기 위해 서로 연관성이 있으면서도 서로의 장점을 보완해줄 여러 예측
이론들을 함께 적용하여 사용하여 왔으며 논자도 이에 주목하여 연구 주
제로 삼았다.
본 연구에서는 타로카드가 내포하고 있는 상징들과 유사한 사주명리학
의 신살들을 중심으로 이들의 이미지가 그려내는 상징을 공통분모로 하여
상관성을 찾아내고자 한다.
이에 본 연구에서는 천을귀인(天乙貴人), 문창귀인(文昌貴人), 반안(攀
鞍), 금여록(金輿祿), 역마(驛馬) 등은 길신류(吉神類)로 분류하고, 백호
대살(白虎大殺), 괴강살(魁罡殺), 겁살(劫殺), 망신살(亡身殺), 귀문관살
(鬼門關殺) 등을 흉살류(凶殺類)로 분류하여 집중적으로 다루고자 한다.
길신류와 흉신류로 분류한 과정을 거친 신살들을 타로카드인 메이저 타
로카드의 0번 바보(The Fool), 2번 고위 여사제(The High
Priestess), 3번 여황제(The Empress), 4번 황제(The King)(역), 6
번 연인(The Lover), 7번 전차(The Wheel), 9번 은둔자(The
Hermit), 10번 운명의 수레바퀴(The Wheel of Fortune), 11번 정의
(Justice)(역), 15번 악마(The Devil), 16번 탑((The Tower), 17번
별(The Star), 21번 세계(The World), 마이너 타로카드의 동전 기사
(Knight of Pentacles)(역), 1번 동전 (Ace of Pentacles), 9번 동전
(Nine of Pentacles), 지팡이 여왕(Queen of Wands), 지팡이 기사
(Knight of Wands), 9번 지팡이(Nine of Wands), 9번 지팡이(Nine
of Wands)(역), 6번 지팡이(Six of Wands), 5번 지팡이(Five of
Wands), 검의 왕(King of Swords)(역), 검의 여왕(Queen of
Swords),검 기사(Knight of Swords), 검의 시종(Page of Swords)
(역), 9번 검(Nine of Swords), 7번 검(Seven of Swords), 컵의 여
왕(Queen of Cups)(역), 컵 기사(Knight of Cups), 2번 컵(Two of
Cups)와 관련하여 그 상징적 의미의 상호관계성을 근거로 제시 하였다.
길신류와 흉신류로 분류한 과정을 거친 10개의 신살 들을 0번 바보
(The Fool) 카드 등 신살의 상징을 많이 내포하고 있는 타로카드들과
상호 관계성을 살펴보고자 한다. 특히 사주원국에서 특정 신살을 갖고 있
는 사람이 타로 점을 볼 때 타로를 선택하는 과정에서 특정 신살과 같은
상징의 타로카드들이 채택되는가를 실제 상담사례를 통해 증명해보고자
하였다.
본 연구를 통해 타로의 의미가 단순히 서양에서 유입된 점술의 한 종류
로 그치는 것이 아니라 사주명리학와 깊은 연결고리가 있음을 증명하였
다. 본 연구에 이어 더욱 더 많은 타로와 신살의 상관성을 밝힌 연구가
지속적으로 이루어져 상담현장에서 유용하게 활용되기를 바란다.
