It is not uncommon for a name given by one namer is considered to be unsuitable by the another namer, who would recommended to a change of name.
There are diverse schools of naminology and method of naming existing in oriental philosophy and many namers base their opinions rooting back to their specific naminology background. Thus, a client who asked for naming goes through a considerable amount of confusion as to which namer’s opinion is to be followed. There is even dispute among namers on who’s right.
In this study, the researcher investigated the status of naming theory applications and interpreted their cases to suggest a solution to this turmoil in the field. The main underlying topics covered are as follows.
First, through analysis of distinct types of naminology and naming theories and current educational condition in naminology, the researcher suggest a need for improvements in certifying namers and bringing different naminology concepts to single unifying naminology.
Second, the usage of the five elements of pronunciation have been investigated, specifically, the use of initial consonants and last consonants in Hunminjeongeum-Unhae and Hunminjeongeum-Haerae and presented alteratives.
Third, analyses of the elements of number in the number of 81 strokes and their relation to fortune, and applications of Chinese characters served by the Supreme Court evaluated for improvements.
Since its beginning, there has been numerous advancements in the field of naminology, however, because there are so many branches of naming theory and naminology, it is necessary for fundamental changes.
Continuous research and development in namer education, improvements on issuing certificates to certified namers, and establishment of unifying concept of naminology are such changes.
