국악 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠의 이용과 충족에 관한 연구 : 국립국악원 아카이브 이용자를 중심으로 = A study on the use and gratification of live video contents in Korean traditional music performance : focusing on the users of the archives of National Gugak Center

Along with the beginning of the digital multimedia age, the performing arts have been reborn as a new media called live video content through convergence with technology. Various performances were produced by video so that users could access the performances without watching them directly. The archival system that systematically manages the contents of the produced live performance records not only the history of the performance but also plays a role as the basis for reproducing the contents.
The purpose of this study is to systematize the user 's purpose of using the contents of live performance of the National Gugak Center, which is striving to preserve and spread national music, and to promote and develop the contents of the performances. And the satisfaction was objectively analyzed to check the value of using the contents. Also the purpose of use was investigated in an empirical sense by analyzing whether users' use behavior or sociodemographic characteristics affect the use of the live video content. Users of the video contents of the live Gugak performance were expected to have different purposes and motives than those of other common media contents. To do this, we set up research problems to identify the characteristics of users, major usage motives, satisfaction of users, and their relationship.
The research was conducted from April 11, 2018 to April 21, by selecting users who requested live video contents through the National Gugak Center archives from 2014 to now (2018.04.). The questionnaire consisted of investigating characteristics, use behavior, main motivation, and satisfaction level of user groups.
The results of the analysis based on the survey results are as follows. The users of the video contents of Gugak performance were limited due to the high proportion of the people involved in the Gugak performance.
Motivation for users to use contents was classified into five factors and motivated users in order of 'monitoring', 'high quality pursuit', 'secondary use' and 'leisure'. It revealed the special nature of the contents of Korean traditional music and archive. Satisfaction with each use motive was different in three aspects: 'information satisfaction', 'entertainment satisfaction' and 'convenience satisfaction'. An analysis of the correlation between the use motive and satisfaction level of a live Gugak performance showed a rather high correlation between motivation for ‘leisure’, ‘pursuit of high quality’ and ‘entertainment satisfaction’.
Users showed relatively high satisfaction in 'information satisfaction ' and 'comfort satisfaction', while 'entertainment satisfaction' showed moderate satisfaction. In order to improve the satisfaction of the use of the video contents of Gugak performance, it is necessary to improve the satisfaction level of ‘high-quality pursuit’ motive and ‘secondary use’ motive as well as ‘monitoring’ motive. For this purpose, it is analyzed that it is necessary to develop high quality contents that can be used more than simple recording image.
Based on the results of this study, it is expected that if the technical and content level is improved by reflecting the requirements of the users such as various composition and technology application, subtitle insertion etc. in the production of Gugak video contents, the overall satisfaction of the contents will be improved and the archive will be more actively used and developed.
This research analyzes the user's use behavior using the video contents of Gugak performances with a specific purpose through the archive of National Gugak Center and reveals the relationship between the user's motives and satisfaction. Based on this study, it will be possible to improve the satisfaction of the users by promoting the development of live video contents. Furthermore, it is expected that the value of traditional arts field can be enhanced by promoting understanding and interest in Korean traditional music performances.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

디지털 멀티미디어 시대의 시작과 더불어 공연 예술은 기술과의 융합을 통해 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠라는 새로운 미디어로 재탄생되었다. 다양한 공연들이 영상으로 제작되어 이용자들이 직접 관람하지 않고도 공연을 접할 수 있게 되었다. 제작된 공연 실황 콘텐츠들을 체계적으로 관리하는 아카이브 시스템은 공연의 역사를 기록할 뿐 아니라 콘텐츠를 재생산 하는 기반으로서의 역할을 수행하고 있다.
본 연구에서는 민족음악을 보존․전승하고, 그 보급 및 발전을 위해 노력하고 있는 국립국악원의 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠를 활용하려는 이용자들의 이용 목적을 체계화 시키고, 그에 따른 만족도를 객관적으로 분석하여 영상 콘텐츠의 활용 가치를 확인하고자 하였다. 또한 이용자들의 이용 행태나 인구사회학적 특성이 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠의 이용에 영향을 주는지를 분석하여 실증적인 측면에서의 이용 목적을 연구하고자 하였다. 국악 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠의 이용자들은 다른 일반적인 미디어 콘텐츠의 이용 동기와는 다소 다른 목적과 이용 동기를 갖고 있을 것으로 예상되었다. 이를 위해 이용자 특성, 주요 이용 동기, 이용 만족도, 이용 동기와 만족도 사이의 관계를 규명하고자 하는 연구문제를 설정하였다.
2014년부터 현재(2018. 04.)까지 기관 내 아카이브를 통해 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠를 요청한 이용자들을 연구 대상으로 선정하여 2018년 4월 11일부터 4월 21일까지 11일간 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문은 이용자 집단의 특성과 이용 행태, 주요 이용 동기 및 만족도를 조사하는 내용으로 구성되었다.
연구 결과, 국립국악원의 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠 이용자는 주로 국악원 및 공연 관계자 등으로 다소 한정된 특성을 갖고 있었다. 이용자들의 콘텐츠 이용 동기는 크게 다섯 가지 요인으로 구분되었으며, ‘모니터링’, ‘고품질 추구’, ‘2차 활용’, ‘여가 선용’, ‘근거 제시’ 요인의 순으로 높은 이용 동기를 보여 아카이브 및 국악 콘텐츠의 특수성을 드러내었다. 각 이용 동기에 대한 충족은 ‘정보적 만족’, ‘오락적 만족’, ‘편리적 만족’ 등 세 가지 측면에서 서로 다른 정도를 나타냈다. 이용 동기와 만족도 간 상관분석 결과 여가 선용 동기, 고품질 추구 동기와 오락적 만족도 사이에는 다소 높은 상관관계가 나타났다. 모니터링 동기와 편리적 만족도 간에도 다소 높은 상관관계를 보였으며, 이외에는 대부분 상관관계가 낮거나 거의 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이용자들은 정보적 만족도와 편리적 만족도에서 비교적 높은 충족을 보였으며, 오락적 만족도에서는 보통 정도의 충족을 나타낸 것으로 나타났다. 이를 바탕으로 전체적인 공연 영상 콘텐츠 이용의 만족도를 향상시키기 위해서는 모니터링 동기와 함께 고품질 추구 동기와 2차 활용 동기의 충족 정도를 향상시켜야 함을 밝혔다. 이를 위해 단순 기록용 영상을 뛰어넘어 보다 다양한 활용을 할 수 있는 고품질 콘텐츠의 발전이 필요할 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 국악 영상 콘텐츠 제작에 이용자들의 요구사항을 반영하여 다양한 구도 및 기술 활용, 자막 삽입 등 기술적, 내용적 수준을 향상시킨다면, 콘텐츠의 전반적인 만족도 향상과 더불어 아카이브의 보다 활발한 활용과 발전을 꾀할 수 있을 것으로 예상한다.
본 연구는 국립국악원 아카이브를 통해 특정한 목적의식을 가지고 국악 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠를 이용한 이용자들의 이용 행태를 분석하고, 그들의 이용 동기와 만족도의 관계를 밝힘으로써 보다 목적 지향적인 미디어 이용에 대한 이해를 넓혔다는 의의가 있다. 향후 본 연구를 기반으로 국악 공연 실황 영상 콘텐츠의 발전을 도모하여 이용자들의 만족도를 제고하고, 나아가 국악공연에 대한 이해도 증진과 관심을 유도하여 전통 예술 분야의 가치를 높일 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
