This study focuses on the character education of infants and toddlers, and aims to search for ways to improve teacher education in order to enhance their skills in character. Education personality education has long been regarded as an essential purpose and a core function of education. Naturally in recent years, as the ethical and moral problems of society have depend, the opinion that personal education needs to be strengthened throughtout society has gained more traction. As improving personality education leads to an increase in the roles and responsibilities of the teachers, it is necessary for the successful personality education of infants and toddlers to be preceded by efforts to effectively educate teachers in personality education.
Until recently, there has been a relatively shortage of interest in early childhood teachers, who are the subjects of humanity education, and a lack of systematic discussions on how to provide educational support to programs aimed at infants and toddlers, instead previously focusing on the implementation of the personality education. Based on these issues, this study investigates the character education of infants and toddlers according to the selection criteria, and then based on this study, to compare and analyse results from USA, China and Japan.
Personality teachers of infants and toddlers need to be able to internalize the knowledge, skills, and tendencies practiced in personality education and utilize them effectively, as well as having the internal qualities of personality educators. It can be said that it is teacher expertise in an intrinsic and perfect sense.
In addition to the United States being geographically close to China, the US has a similar education curriculum to Korea, and has influenced the overall character education in Korea. Furthermore, China has similarities with Confucian culture, similar to Korea, and Japan has continuously implemented this system. The analysis criteria was based on the seven areas of each country. The definition of personality, personality factors, related laws and policies, code of ethics, pre-service personality education necessary for teachers and program education systems were compared and contrasted.
The higher the expectation from personality education, the higher the demands on then personality of infant and child teachers. The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept and meaning of personality education for infants, and to provide a systematic understanding of personality education. Furthermore, it is meaningful to compare and analyse personality education in each country, and to propose a plan to effectively improve the education of teacher after critically reviewing and evaluating pre-and in-service teacher’s curriculum.
This study is intended to investigate the concept and importance of early childhood teachers, an aspect not covered on previous studies, as well as to discuss the specific educational support for the development of personality education for infants and toddlers.
